Trader Joe’s Is Finally Stocking This Beloved International Potato Chip

Almonds that taste like coconut? Trader Joe’s has it. A blue cheese, Cheddar, and Buffalo spread? Got it at TJ’s. Pretzels covered in a mocha latte-inspired chocolate glaze? Where else but Trader Joe’s? 

The grocery chain’s latest release is also a unique find—at least for us in the U.S. And it definitely warrants a special trip to the store to snag a bag.

Trader Joe’s New Ketchup Flavored Lattice Potato Chips

Keen Trader Joe’s shoppers spotted a new snack bag on shelves over the last couple of days: Ketchup Flavored Lattice Potato Chips. The new product is being sold in seven-ounce bags for $3.49. You can find them alongside the fan-favorite Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips, which just returned to shelves. 

Ketchup and potatoes are BFFs, so we’re excited to get our hands on this new Trader Joe’s flavor. For those thinking “ketchup chips?!” this is a well-established chip flavor in other parts of the world, namely Canada.

As the product description on Trader Joe’s website starts, “O, Canada! Among the many culinary treasures provided by our neighbors to the North, some of our favorites have come in the form of uniquely flavored potato chips, with the ketchup flavored chip chief among them.”

On Reddit, one shopper described the taste as a “sweet and savory version of a salt and vinegar chip.” But it’s not the first time that Trader Joe’s offered this flavor in a snack.

A few years back, Trader Joe’s shoppers got a glimpse of ketchup flavored chips with the Ketchup Flavored Spud Crunchies, which were discontinued. But that “potato snack” wasn’t a true chip. With the release of the new Ketchup Flavored Lattice Potato Chips, many shoppers in the U.S. may be introduced to the flavor for the first time ever. 

And those already familiar with the Canadian snack, are very excited to see this bag on shelves. “The ketchup lattice potato chips are incredible,” said one fan on Instagram. “Get two bags because they are that good.”

Another early shopper said that they bought a bag and loved them. “Tastes like ketchup and fries,” they shared. “Amazing crunch.”
