And now Trader Joe’s is bringing back a limited-time holiday dessert fans cannot get enough of. It’s sweet, creamy, and buttery—some fans are even calling it the “best ever.” Guess we’ll have to make room in our carts!
Trader Joe’s Clotted Cream Fudge Is Back on Shelves
Last season, Trader Joe’s stocked a variety box of fudge for the holidays. The flavors included Clotted Cream Fudge, Chocolate Fudge, and Holiday Spice Fudge. As the saying goes, the cream rises to the top—and such was the case with this item. The Clotted Cream Fudge was the breakout star of the season, garnering fans across the country. Now, Trader Joe’s brought back the fan-favorite fudge in its own box.
“I bought a box today and just ate one,” said one fan on Reddit. “I regret my decision and now must go back and buy more boxes.”
If you’re not familiar with the term “clotted” it simply means heating (steaming or scalding) milk to the point of thickening—or clotting. When cooled, it thickens into a rich dairy product that is somewhere between butter and a nutty whipped cream. Most popular in the United Kingdom, clotted cream is made with unpasteurized milk, which is one of the reasons why it’s not commonly found in the United States, as the legality of selling raw milk varies from state to state.
Trader Joe’s Clotted Cream Fudge is imported from England from a supplier who, according to the TJ’s website, uses a classic recipe. The fudge has salted butter, sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and clotted cream. Additionally, Trader Joe’s says the fudge has a “plush mouthfeel, subtle milky notes, and a buttery round flavor.” Unlike American fudge, English fudge is a little bit crumbly, making it a great accompaniment to hot cocoa, coffee, or tea—if you’re feeling particularly British.
“So good and nostalgic,” said one shopper on Instagram. “They taste just like my grandma made them.” Another fan on Reddit added, “Can [TJ’s] just take my entire wallet already?”
Each $2.99 box has one dozen pieces of fudge, and would make a great addition to your holiday dessert tray—or enjoyed on its own as a festive way to finish a meal. Regardless of how you enjoy it—you’re going to want to pick up a few boxes soon. Like the rest of Trader Joe’s delectable holiday releases, this fudge is only available for a limited time.
