With the holiday season around the corner, grocery store shelves are currently packed with festive goodies and limited-edition treats. While Costco always offers decadent prepared sides and Sam’s Club never fails to serve all the hosting essentials, the clear holiday grocery winner is arguably Trader Joe’s.

Along with a variety of new favorites, the grocery chain also brings back beloved holiday items each year, including the one product that is so popular, shoppers admit they “really want to buy 20-plus containers” in one trip.

Trader Joe’s Mini Peppermint Meringues Are Back

While Trader Joe’s never misses when it comes to heat-and-eat appetizers, my favorite part of the frozen aisle is the dessert and sweet treat section that lines the tops of the freezers. Of course, the All the Things Cookies and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups are year-round staples, but Mr. Joe really knows how to up the ante around the holidays, offering seasonal staples like Gingerbread Sandwich Cookies and my all-time favorite Mint Chocolate Star Cookies.

Another treat that gets a festive upgrade? TJ’s Vanilla Meringues. Just like the usual meringues, the Trader Joe’s Mini Peppermint Meringues are crafted exclusively for the chain and come from the same supplier. The cookie is made with cane sugar and egg whites for a light base that strikes a perfect balance of crunch and chew, and it’s packed with plenty of peppermint candy pieces for the true taste of the holiday season.

“These are just really good and very addictive,” wrote one fan on Reddit, who loves the vanilla base and crunchy peppermint pieces on top. “The peppermint flavor is not overpowering, so this is just delicious and balanced.”

“They’re so good!!” wrote another meringue enthusiast. “I think I ate about 15 boxes of these last year.”

Given how airy and light the Mini Peppermint Meringues are, it’s no surprise that fans say they “always finish the whole box in one sitting.” And, with a seasonal treat so good, it only makes sense to stock up before they disappear after the holiday season.

“I just bought eight containers—no strange looks or judgments given,” reported the same Reddit user who was tempted to buy more than 20 boxes. “May or may not go back for more [on] Monday.”

Another commenter echoed the sentiment, writing, “I’ll probably buy five every time I go.”

Each box retails for $2.99 and contains about 36 meringues, making it less than a dollar per serving for a festive fix. Plus, the Mini Peppermint Meringues make a great allergy-friendly gift or addition to a holiday dessert spread because they are both gluten-free and kosher-certified.

And if you love mint but aren’t a fan of meringues, TJ’s has a variety of peppermint products perfect for the holiday season, including Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s Ice Cream and Peppermint Brookies. And if these reviews are any indication, Trader Joe’s Mini Peppermint Meringues may be gone before Santa makes it down the chimney. So, if you are tempted to try the treats, you may want to stock up ASAP.
