Happy Festive Soda Season to all who celebrate! Sure, you could stuff your stocking with Twix Snowmen or Snickers Trees. Or, I dare you to bust out the heavy-duty Command Strips and throw in a can of Coca-Cola’s Holiday Creamy Vanilla, as well as Sprite’s returning Winter Spiced Cranberry.

Christmas soda doesn’t get enough love. Who says we need all that milk with our holiday cookies when there’s Olipop’s adorable yeti-adorned cans or the crisp, refreshing first sip of Starry Cranberry Blizz? While Santa usually keeps it classic with a glass bottle of Coke, maybe he should try another beloved southern soda this year: Cheerwine.

The 108-year-old company just brought back its fan-favorite seasonal flavor. And fans are already stocking up to build their yearly supply.

Cheerwine’s Holiday Punch Returns for a Limited Time

Cheerwine Holiday Punch is officially back—and in a brand-new way this year. The returning festive flavor is a riff on southern party punch, which typically involves some pineapple juice, a two-liter bottle of ginger ale, and a tub of lime sherbet. I’ve seen many variations for Christmas made with cranberry juice over the years. But Cheerwine’s version is a blend of the iconic cherry soda with notes of ginger ale and pineapple, creating a bold red fruit punch perfect for the holiday season.

There’s already a warm, spiced something in Cheerwine, much like Dr Pepper’s secret fruit formula. So, the Holiday Punch has been a go-to pre-bottled beverage for Christmas parties and holiday get-togethers. However, in the past, it was only offered in two-liter bottles. And that $4 bottle is back, but now, Cheerwine is spreading the cheer with new 12-ounce cans.

Available in 12-packs for about $9, or double orders (24 cans for $18) on Cheerwine’s website, soda fans can now enjoy this merry mix on the go. Because why drink hot chocolate while cruising around looking at Christmas lights when you can sip on this seasonal treat? There are plenty of Cheerwine fans who would co-sign this practice.

When the brand announced the return of the flavor, soda enthusiasts flooded the comments with their excitement. “I’ve never been happier!” someone exclaimed. “I love it! I found them and stocked up,” said another.

On Cheerwine’s website, one shopper’s review sums it up: “I have to tell you I have a supply of it.” The fan went on to say that they were down to just six of the two-liter bottles. “I have purchased about 20 bottles this season,” they added.

But, even those in southern states that typically offer Cheerwine—from the restaurant soft drink fountain to the grocery store shelf—may not be able to find this version. According to a press release from the brand, Cheerwine Holiday Punch is only available for a limited time at “major retailers across North Carolina, South Carolina, and in Savannah, Ga. Cans are also available outside of the Carolinas at Food Lion (Virginia), and all Food City locations (Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia).”

Cheerwine updated this availability on Instagram, sharing that 12-packs are now available while supplies last at select locations in Ohio. But, as someone living on the West Coast longing for a can, I agree with the universal question one fan asked in all caps: “Why can’t this be everywhere?”

So, you lucky ducks who live in those select states, better not take your proximity to this tasty tradition for granted. Cheers, y’all!
