New soda launches aren’t particularly rare nowadays, but there is still a market that seems fairly untapped: holiday sodas. Traditionally, holiday-inspired soda flavors feature cranberry notes and are found in the lemon-lime sodas, from Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry to Starry Cranberry Blizz to even 7Up Shirley Temple. While Pepsi took a big swing with its ultra-limited-edition Gingerbread soda last year, we don’t often see new pop flavors for the holidays.

However, this year, PepsiCo’s latest venture, the better-for-you brand Poppi, is releasing an all-new soda that will not only have you feeling merry and bright—enjoyed in mocktails and cocktails at holiday dinner—but will also get you through cold and flu season. Poppi just quietly released a new Ginger Fizz soda.

Poppi Launches New Ginger Fizz Soda

Poppi fans began spotting the new ginger-flavored soda on shelves at Target and Kroger earlier this month. The new Ginger Fizz Poppi has sweet notes of ginger, lime, and lemon in the fizzy soda that has all of Poppi’s benefits, including prebiotics and just five grams of sugar.

Poppi says it released its new Ginger Fizz flavor now because ginger ale is the fifth largest flavor in the soda category, and purchases spike every year during the winter months—likely between cold and flu season and also because Canada Dry offers multiple unique holiday flavors.

Ginger Fizz is Poppi’s take on ginger ale, but it could also be used as an alternative to ginger beer in your holiday cocktails this year.

Allrecipes Senior News Editor Courtney Kassel tried the new flavor and says it has more of a “ginger soda” vibe rather than spicy ginger beer, but would still be delicious with a shot of whiskey.

“It’s a great addition, and I think fans will be begging for it to be a permanent flavor,” she said.

And she’s not wrong, as Poppi fans are already raving about the new soda.

“How can I buy 10 cases of these? Ginger Fizz might be my new fav flavor,” wrote a TikTok user.

Poppi’s new Ginger Fizz soda is hitting retailer shelves nationwide officially this November—though, you might be able to find it at some stores early. It’ll be sold in 12-ounce single cans alongside the returning Cranberry Fizz soda for a limited time this holiday season. Maybe this year is shaping up to be one filled with holly, jolly soda flavors after all.
