As we reach the middle of October, we know many people are starting to plan their trips to Mickey D’s for a Boo Bucket and beginning to crave the tasty flavors of Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha. While we, too, are headed to the drive-thru for Dunkin’s new Halloween Candy Bar Latte, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t still thinking about an announcement from the beginning of the year.
At Taco Bell’s Live Más Live in March, the chain announced plans to release 14 new menu innovations this year. In case you haven’t noticed, the year is almost over, and there are still a few menu items, like the Grilled Cheese Burrito with Shredded Beef and the highly anticipated Quesocrisp Taco, that have yet to be released.
We’re not the only ones thinking about Taco Bell’s ticking clock, either. One Reddit user shared, “They announced the Beefy Crunch Burrito was coming back months ago…but it’s been radio silent since then. I wonder if they just teased us, and it won’t be coming back at all at this point.”
The Beefy Crunch Burrito is, of course, the discontinued burrito that was made with rice, Flamin’ Hot Fritos, beef, sour cream, and nacho cheese. The fan-loved burrito was brought back as part of a fan vote in 2023 and was announced to be returning this year, rebranded as the Flamin’ Hot Burrito with all-new Flamin’ Hot Rice.
Well, the internet’s “Beefy Crunch Movement” can finally rest because, after a market test in March, the Beefy Crunch/Flamin’ Hot Burrito is finally hitting menus—with an all-new twist.
Taco Bell is adding its new Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito to menus nationwide on Oct. 16.

The Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito has been slightly modified since its initial test as the Flamin’ Hot Burrito. As the name suggests, Taco Bell is giving the crunchy, cheesy burrito its fan-loved “Grilled Cheese” treatment by grilling the burrito with a layer of melty cheese on the outside. So, the new Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito is essentially two fan favorites: the Grilled Cheese Burrito and the Beefy Crunch Burrito, all in one.
Additionally, Taco Bell is introducing a new sauce with the burrito—a creamy chipotle sauce—for a smoky, extra-creamy bite.
That means the new Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito will be loaded with Fritos Flamin’ Hot corn chips, beef, nacho cheese sauce, creamy chipotle sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, three-cheese blend, and Flamin’ Hot Rice (seasoned with Flamin’ Hot flavor, red peppers, Cheddar cheese powder, garlic, paprika, and lime) all inside a tortilla that’s grilled with a layer of melty cheese.
This new take on the Beefy Crunch Burrito is available on menus now for a limited time, where it can be ordered for $5.49 à la carte or in the $9 Discovery Luxe Cravings Box.
Taco Bell’s spicy, crunchy, cheesy burrito won’t be around forever, and we know you’ve waited long enough to get your hands on it, so don’t miss out while it’s at the drive-thru.
