Key Takeaways
- Taco Bell is gearing up to release a new menu item in collaboration with another beloved chain, but there’s a catch.
- The sweet, new product will be available in-person at select locations and via shipping nationwide beginning this Friday, Oct. 3.
Taco Bell is no stranger to incredible menu offerings, from the return of Cheesy Street Chalupas to the revamped Y2K Decades Menu, and even newer innovations like Mountain Dew Baja Blast Midnight. Plus, the chain is always capitalizing on fan-favorites with new twists and partnerships, like Mike’s Hot Honey Diablo Sauce or a Tajin-inspired Discovery Luxe Box. It’s safe to say that, with roughly 30 new menu offerings in 2025 alone, TBell fanatics are simply spoiled.
Beyond the standard fare like tacos, burritos, and Crunchwraps, the fast food chain also offers a pretty solid lineup of desserts. Personally, I’m partial to the limited-edition Birthday Cake Churro, though I know many fans have a soft spot for the Dulce de Leche Cinnabon Delights. Now, the brand is gearing up for what may be its most indulgent collab yet with a Taco Bell dessert that sounds pretty dang delicious…and no, it’s not the return of the Choco Taco.
Salt & Straw and Taco Bell Are Teaming Up to Launch ‘The Tacolate’
Beloved Oregon-based ice cream maker Salt & Straw has teamed up with Taco Bell to launch The Tacolate—a delightful frozen dessert inspired by the nostalgic ice cream truck treat. After the initial announcement of the collaboration at Taco Bell’s Live Más Live in 2024 went viral, fans of both chains have eagerly been awaiting the treat’s official release.
The Tacolate utilizes flavors and ingredients from both chains in a way that’s authentic to each brand. That’s because it was thoughtfully created by Salt & Straw’s ice cream innovators in collaboration with Taco Bell’s culinary team. Ancho chili cinnamon ice cream is tucked into a sweet taco shell made from crunchy waffle cones, then dipped in decadent single-origin chocolate and topped with toasted brown rice for a treat that’s crispy, creamy, and chocolate-y all in one. Plus, the Tacolate is served with two sweet, custom takes on the iconic Taco Bell sauce packet: Mango Jalapeno Sauce and Wildberry Cinnamon Sauce.
Fans are already eager to try the new collab, with many flooding to Taco Bell and Salt & Straw’s Instagram comments to share their excitement. “I’ve never needed anything more in my entire life,” wrote one user on Taco Bell’s post. Another echoed a similar sentiment on Salt & Straw’s teaser video, adding, “This is gonna be the best day of my life.”
While you can’t get this product at the Taco Bell drive-thru, The Tacolate will be available beginning Friday, Oct. 3, nationwide. Fans can try the decadent dessert for themselves in person at various Salt & Straw shops across Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, New York, Oregon, and Washington; or, fans outside of the area can order a 6-pack of Tacolates for nationwide shipping on the ice cream chain’s website and via select third-party delivery platforms. Plus, to celebrate the launch, the brand will be releasing exclusive merch, including a commemorative keychain that features the signature sauce packet.
Given that Salt & Straw’s 2022 release of the ice cream taco sold out in under 10 minutes, fans may want to start preparing for the epic drop. As a Taco Bell and ice cream fanatic, the Tacolate is right up my alley, and I’ll be making the trip to NYC to snag one for myself…but only after stopping by my local TBell for a Grilled Cheese Burrito and crispy Baja Blast first.
