Sonic Quietly Rolled Out a New McDonald’s Copycat—and It’s Even Cheaper

Ever since McDonald’s teased the re-release of the fan-favorite Snack Wrap back in 2024, fast food chains nationwide have jumped on the bandwagon to release unique versions of the beloved drive-thru item. Popeye’s released not one, but three different chicken wraps; Taco Bell expanded its chicken tender offerings to include a taco and burrito; and Sonic launched two versions of a chicken wrap this past July.

Now that McDonald’s Snack Wrap is back—and already has a new flavor hitting menus—Sonic is once again upgrading its own offerings for a brand new menu item that might give McD’s some not-so-subtle competition.

Sonic Debuts New BBQ Ranch Crispy Tender Wrap

McDonald’s may have released a brand-new Special Edition Gold Sauce—plus an entire menu featuring the North Carolina-inspired condiment—but Sonic is keeping it classic. Rather than a new sauce or regional spin, the fast food chain is debuting a chicken wrap with flavors you know and love. And, given that Sonic recently beat out Mickey D’s in our fast food snack wrap taste test, we have a feeling the new wrap is going to be good.

Sonic’s new BBQ Ranch Crispy Tender Wrap features a crispy chicken tender topped with lettuce, tomatoes, Cheddar cheese, and Sonic’s signature BBQ Ranch sauce, all wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. Plus, the new Crispy Tender Wrap is the star of the fast food chain’s revamped $1.99 Menu.

If tangy BBQ Ranch isn’t for you, the newly revamped value menu also includes a few other beloved Sonic wraps. Both the Fritos Chili Cheese Jr. Wrap (which contains crunchy Fritos chips, Cheddar cheese, and warm chili in a flour tortilla) and Cheesy Baja Crispy Tender Wrap are also on the $1.99 menu at Sonic. The latter, which is a limited-time offer, features a crispy chicken tender made with all-white meat along with lettuce, tomatoes, Cheddar cheese, and Sonic’s zesty Baja sauce.

As impressive as three discounted wraps are, that’s not all that’s on the value menu. Just in time for fall, Sonic’s new Salted Caramel Croissant Bites are also hitting the discounted menu, alongside the Jr. Deluxe Cheeseburger and the classic Soft Pretzel Twist. Plus, you can wash it all down with a small soda float featuring Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper, Barq’s Root Beer, or Fanta Orange for the same low price.

As someone who can’t hit the drive-thru without a sweet treat to round out the meal (looking at you, Wendy’s Frostys), I’ll definitely be grabbing the discounted Salted Caramel Croissant Bites for the perfect post-wrap dessert.
