Sam’s Club and Costco seem to constantly be in battle with one another. If you thought the Coke vs. Pepsi debate was passionate, ask someone which wholesale club they shop at and wait for the Kirkland Signature vs. Member’s Mark argument to begin.Â
Both club stores offer private-label brand products set to rival not just the name-brand alternatives, but each other’s, too. And it’s not just about the taste, but also the price.
Costco is renowned for its $1.50 hot dog and drink combo, but Sam’s Club’s combo is only $1.38. Costco started stocking the Chick-fil-A copycat Just Bare nuggets, then Sam’s Club followed suit. So, Costco thought it would one-up Sam’s by releasing a private label version of the frozen chicken nuggets, but, lo and behold, the Club has a Member’s Mark version, too.
As we go back and forth in every facet of the store—from the membership pricing down to the special services the clubs offer—we can’t help but stay tuned in on the rival products. And, as fans are amped to see Costco’s Chicken Pot Pie back in stores this month, it seemed fitting to check Sam’s deli offerings. And, wouldn’t you know, Member’s Mark also offers a take-and-bake prepared chicken pot pie—but it’s cheaper than Costco’s version and offered all year long.
Why Fans Love Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Chicken Pot Pie

Member’s Mark Chicken Pot Pie is sold in the club store’s deli, where it’s prepared fresh every day. The pot pie features a flaky crust and is filled with a creamy blend of shredded chicken, carrots, and baby peas.Â
All customers have to do is bake the prepared dish in a 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 60 to 90 minutes, and they’ve got a comfort meal that feeds four to six people ready to go, no prep required.Â
Just like Costco’s pot pie, Sam’s Club’s version is priced per pound, so the exact cost can vary. However, the Member’s Mark Chicken Pot Pie is cheaper per pound than Costco’s, priced at $3.78 per pound. The weight can vary, but based on the pricing on Sam’s site, it seems the Member’s Mark pot pie is a little over five pounds in weight, which is on par with Costco’s pie.Â
Price aside, customers rave about Sam’s Club’s pot pie’s flavor.Â
“These are amazing! I like to add an egg wash to the top for the classic down home finish. Great meal for a large family, or for a small family with plenty of leftovers. The leftovers of one of these are just as good or better than right out of the oven,” wrote one Sam’s Club member.Â
“Just like mom made! These have a great taste…and they don’t skimp on chicken,” another reviewer posted.
While Costco fans are rushing to the store to grab its chicken pot pie before it’s gone for good, you, Sam’s Club shoppers, can rest assured that the Member’s Mark Chicken Pot Pie will be there every time you hit the Club.
