The best time to visit Sam’s Club is right when it opens. During the busiest daytime hours, the store’s aisles are overflowing with excited shoppers whose carts are piled high with seasonal goodies such as Chocolate Peppermint Almonds and prepared charcuterie trays.

And while I don’t always mind the hustle and bustle, it can be hard to slow down and discover something new when the store is packed. Thankfully, with my Plus Membership, I can get in as early as 8 a.m., the perfect time of day to browse without feeling rushed.

Recently, as I was casually scanning Sam’s Club’s holiday display, I spotted a baking staple at a price too good to pass up. If you plan on making chocolate-covered anything this year, you won’t want to miss this budget-friendly find.

Member’s Mark Milk Chocolate Flavored Melting Wafers Now at Sam’s Club

The Member’s Mark Milk Chocolate Flavored Melting Wafers is an item worth stocking up on. A 34-ounce bag is just less than $8, which is a steal compared to brand-name alternatives, such as Ghirardelli and Dolci Frutta. Those products average about twice the price per ounce.

The Member’s Mark wafers are available in both milk chocolate and white chocolate, so you can drizzle and dip pretzels, Oreo balls, strawberries, and all the truffles to your heart’s desire.

If you want to add festive color to a bowl of white wafers, just be sure to use a powder or oil-based food coloring. If water—whether drops in a freshly cleaned bowl or in food coloring—interacts with melted wafers, it causes them to seize and become hard. You may be able to find oil-based food coloring at the grocery store, but it’s worth heading to a nearby craft store, as the selection of brands and colors is much bigger.

On the Sam’s Club website, the product reviews are overflowing with positive words. One person said the budget-friendly decorating staple “rivals Ghirardelli,” giving the item a 5-star review. “Melts well and tastes great. Makes dipping Oreos or Ritz cracker peanut butter sandwiches fun for dipping and decorating for the holidays,” they wrote. “Buy yourself an extra bag or save the leftovers for fondue or Valentine’s treats.”

“Love the milk chocolate taste! Does not taste waxy at all, like other melts. Very easy to work with and there is a lot in the bag!” said another. A different reviewer noted that the wafers are also great for making nut clusters.

You can find Member’s Mark Chocolate Flavored Melting Wafers in the baking section of the store. Some locations may also have the bags on a special display alongside sweetened condensed milk, nuts, and other holiday baking essentials, so be sure to ask a team member if you have trouble finding them.
