On Oct. 15, Publix announced a voluntary recall for one of its ice cream products, Publix Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream, as it may contain an undeclared egg allergen. The popular item was sold across six states.
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous in a press release. “To date, there have been no reported cases of illness.”
How To Identify the Recalled Publix Ice Cream
The Publix Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream under question was sold in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. However, stores in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Tampa, and Sarasota, Florida are not impacted. Additionally, Publix noted that locations in Virginia and North Carolina are not impacted.
The recalled Publix Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream was sold as a half gallon container with a sell by date of “June 19, 2026 A” and a universal product code (UPC): 41415 03043. Additionally, the tub may feature a mismatch French Vanilla container lid as it may contain Publix Rich & Creamy French Vanilla Ice Cream instead of Publix Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream.
What To Do if You Have the Recalled Publix Ice Cream
In the release, Publix warned that anyone who “has an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.”
“Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund,” said Brous. “Publix customers with additional questions may call our customer care department toll-free at 1-800-242-1227 or visit our website at publix.com.”
