The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall for Tai Foong USA spring rolls that were produced exclusively for Aldi and sold under the name Fusia Asian Inspirations Veggie Spring Rolls. The boxes, which are labeled as Veggie Spring Rolls, may actually contain Fusia Asian Inspirations Shrimp Spring Rolls, and therefore, the packaging does not have the correct allergen warning, which the FDA requires.
How To Identify the Recalled Aldi Spring Rolls
The recalled Veggie Spring Rolls were sold at Aldi stores nationwide in 10-ounce packages and can be identified by the UPC 4099100222258 and “Best Before” date May 17, 2027. The FDA has provided label images on its website to help consumers identify the recalled products.Â
No other Fusia Asian Inspirations or Aldi products are impacted by this recall.
What To Do if You Have the Recalled Aldi Spring Rolls
If you have the recalled spring rolls and have a shellfish allergy or sensitivity, you should not consume them. The box inadvertently contains shrimp spring rolls, not veggie spring rolls, and could lead to a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction in those with shellfish allergies. Instead, throw the box away or return it to your local Aldi store for a full refund or replacement. No allergic reactions have been reported at this time.
If you have the spring rolls, but don’t have a shellfish allergy or sensitivity, you don’t need to respond to this recall. The products are not inherently unsafe to consume—the boxes simply contain a different product than what is listed on the box.Â
However, if you do wish to return the Fusia Asian Inspirations Shrimp Spring Rolls or exchange them for the Fusia Asian Inspirations Veggie Spring Rolls, you are entitled to a refund or replacement.Â
