Hawaiian bread rolls are one of our favorite products to keep on hand. They have the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors to complement a variety of dishes. Even better, with just a few simple ingredients, the rolls are elevated from a beloved side to a showstopping entrée.
For example, hot ham and cheese sliders are always a crowd favorite, and when layered with beef patties and fresh toppings, they make a party-ready mini burger perfect for all ages. The fluffy rolls can also be used in desserts such as bread pudding and even transformed into Boston cream-inspired donuts.
Recently, we spotted a new use for Hawaiian rolls that stopped us in our tracks. A social media user created crab rangoon-stuffed dinner rolls. Considering the filling and the rolls are both naturally sweet, we’re surprised we hadn’t seen this duo sooner.
How To Make Crab Rangoon Stuffed Hawaiian Rolls
In the video, biteswithesther shows off the glistening rolls and explains how to prepare them, starting with shredded and chopped imitation crab. In a large bowl, the crab is mixed with softened cream cheese, diced green onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of sugar. The ingredients are folded until well combined into a thick filling similar to what you’d see inside a golden, fried wonton wrapper.
At this point, the creator separates a package of King’s Hawaiian rolls into squares with four rolls in each portion. Slicing about halfway down, they make an “X” into the center, which will be stuffed with the filling. Alternatively, you can make individual bites by cutting a small “X” into every single roll instead.
The video’s comment section quickly filled with excitement, even gaining the attention of the King’s Hawaiian brand account. “Save us a bite! Please!” it wrote. Another user added, “Give me 14 of them.”
The recipe is also getting positive reviews from those who have tried it. “I made this earlier this week, and it was a hit. Everybody loved them. Slightly different recipe, but probably very similar taste. Definitely recommend,” wrote one person. “My husband loved it! [I] used canned crab meat instead, air-fried it, and put minced garlic with parsley and Italian seasoning glaze on top after,” chimed in one more.
So, the next time you need an impressive but simple dish to wow your guests, look no further than these sweet and creamy crab rangoon rolls for a dinner they won’t soon forget.
