In case you missed the news, Lay’s is in the middle of a major transformation.

Along with other Frito-Lay favorites, the snack brand is removing synthetic dyes and artificial flavors from its recipes, resulting in updated versions of some potato chip classics. Lay’s Baked is also being revamped to replace corn oil with olive oil, while Lay’s Kettle Cooked chips will soon use avocado oil instead of a vegetable oil blend—both resulting in lower-fat takes on the originals.

And if that wasn’t enough, Lay’s is also getting a whole new look. The company is launching what it calls its most ambitious brand refresh since its 1938 founding, refreshing everything from the logo and packaging to its photography and color palette. Talk about a makeover.

It might seem like Lay’s as we know it is slowly leaving shelves. But amid all the innovation, the brand is bringing back one familiar favorite to show it hasn’t lost touch with the creative, crave-worthy snacks fans adore.

Lay’s Brings Back the Fan-Favorite Salted Caramel Flavor

The holiday-inspired Salted Caramel flavor is officially back on shelves, offering a uniquely sweet spin on the classic potato chip.

When the limited-edition flavor first launched back in 2020, many fans were skeptical. It wasn’t the first time Lay’s had ventured into sweet territory, but it was certainly an unexpected move. Still, anyone who’s ever fallen for a salty-sweet snack could tell Frito-Lay had a winner on its hands. And once customers got a first taste, they were quick to leave their salty comments behind and fully embrace the sweet new flavor.

“I would never have imagined, but after eating the whole bag, I can tell you these are delicious and worth trying,” one reviewer shared. “Sooo good. I was quite surprised but really pleased,” added another commenter.

Fans at the time described the flavor as having “a perfect balance of sweet and salty” and being “extremely reminiscent of caramel corn.” Another said, “They remind me of the Honey Butter ones. But better!”

Now that the seasonal chips are back for a second appearance, fans don’t need any convincing—they’re just ready to clear the shelves.

“Salted Caramel Lay’s are coming home with me,” one commenter said. “My sweet and salty taste buds need those Lay’s like I need air,” joked another.

Salted Caramel Lay’s are available now nationwide—no longer exclusive to Kroger stores like the first launch—and can be found at grocery stores and gas stations for a limited time.

We’ll admit: we don’t always take well to change. But as long as Lay’s keeps delivering (and reviving) the flavors we love, we’ll happily get on board for the brand’s new era.
