KFC Is Bringing Back the Beloved ’90s Menu Item Fans Petitioned For

Throwback is the name of the game in fast food this year. It may have started with the long-awaited return of McDonald’s Snack Wrap, but Mickey D’s isn’t the only brand that has brought back fan-loved menu items from their discontinued graves. 

Taco Bell is currently reliving its Y2K glory with an entire Decades Menu, including the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos and Chili Cheese Burrito. Meanwhile, KFC’s Potato Wedges are back on menus after years of fan petitions. 

Now, Taylor Swift might be entering her new era with “The Life of a Showgirl” this week, but KFC isn’t ready to say goodbye to its past eras just yet. 

After years of customer demands, KFC is finally bringing back its Original Honey BBQ sauce.

KFC Brings Back Original Honey BBQ Sauce

The Original Honey BBQ sauce was first introduced to KFC restaurants in the late ‘90s, where it became a fast favorite on the chain’s crispy wings. However, its success was short-lived as KFC discontinued the sauce in the early ‘00s.

Fans have called the barbecue-sauced wings “the perfect blend of crunchy, sticky, sweet, and flavorful,” saying their “heart yearns” for them again. 

Beginning Oct. 6, those fans will finally get their wish as the Original Honey BBQ sauce returns—and bigger than ever before. 

This time, customers can get any menu item dunked in the sweet barbecue sauce, including the sandwich, fried chicken, tenders, and, of course, wings. 

And the Original Honey BBQ isn’t the only ‘90s baby making a return. KFC is celebrating the sauce’s return by throwing it back to ‘90s pricing for a limited time. The KFC Chicken Sandwich, which is topped with pickles and your choice of mayo or spicy mayo on a brioche bun, will be available for just $3.99, a price not seen since before the turn of the century.
