My family is big into college football and professional football. Needless to say, every weekend in the fall is an event in my house. And while my attention starts to drift shortly after kickoff, I love watching from the kitchen while overseeing the array of delicious snacks.
For the games against our top rivals, it’s fun to go all out with nachos, a DIY chili bar, Buffalo chicken dip, or sliders. For smaller games, I’ll opt for a batch of football-shaped cookies and a bag of chips. Typically, our go-to is Cape Cod chips and anything barbecue flavored, but we love to try out all the new snack finds, too.
Last month, Lay’s included three new tailgate-inspired chips in its lineup that are perfect for serving on game day. Now, Frito-Lay has added another watch party-worthy flavor to shelves, and it’s sure to be an instant crowd favorite.
PopCorners Launches Smokehouse BBQ Flavor
Frito-Lay just quietly launched an all-new flavor of its delightfully crunchy popcorn-inspired chips: Smokehouse BBQ PopCorners. The latest variety joins a lively lineup including Jalapeño Popper, White Cheddar, and Cinnamon Crunch.
The new chip is packed with tasty, bold flavor that makes late-night snacking and game day spreads memorable. Smokehouse BBQ PopCorners start with its staple, popped yellow corn. The crunchy triangles are dusted with a smoky seasoning blend made with brown sugar, molasses, garlic, and spices. As with the brand’s entire lineup, Smokehouse BBQ PopCorners contain no artificial flavors or colors.
My Honest Review of Smokehouse BBQ PopCorners
I’m a huge fan of PopCorners, and calling it my favorite chip is not an exaggeration. So when I spotted this new flavor on shelves, of course, I had to snag a bag. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but based on Frito-Lay’s other barbecue chip options, I expected it to be a hit.
When you first rip open the bag, you can definitely smell the sweet and savory blend of spices. These have a crave-worthy crunch that is light, airy, and all around delicious. The seasoning is nicely balanced, with just enough sweetness to remind you of your favorite barbecue dishes, without being overwhelming. Neither the website nor the packaging indicate if these are limited-time only, but this new option is definitely one I hope earns a permanent spot on shelves.
I found Smokehouse BBQ PopCorners at Hy-Vee, a regional grocery store, but other shoppers online have spotted the bags at Kroger. Be sure to check other retailers, such as Walmart and Target, that sell the brand because it could pop up in additional stores.
