Frito-Lay has been hard at work this holiday season, making sure that our snack table selection is anything but boring. Earlier this month, the brand announced four new Doritos and Cheetos options would be heading to stores as part of its Simply NKD lineup, a collection free from artificial colors and flavors. It also brought back Lay’s Salted Caramel, a sweet and salty chip that’s sure to spark a conversation among your guests.

Recently, we spotted two new Frito-Lay products on shelves, and if you plan on hosting or snacking this holiday season, you don’t want to miss this sweet and salty duo.

Frito-Lay Releases New PopCorners Cocoa Crunch and Smartfood Chocolate Caramel

PopCorners Cocoa Crunch is heading to stores for a limited time. Inspired by the iconic winter drink, it combines chocolate and marshmallow flavor into a light, airy chip. Popcorn fans can also find Smartfood Chocolate Caramel on shelves, a sweet new addition to the air-popped lineup.

Both new creations make the ideal movie night companion and can add a fun burst of flavor to any homemade snack mix. Need a last-minute gift? Transform Smartfood’s newest offering with just a few simple steps. All you have to do is empty the bag into a decorative tin and add a festive bow for a specialty shop-worthy treat without the gourmet price tag.

Food reviewer @markiedevo shared the news in a recent Facebook post, and users were immediately thrilled with the finds. “Those PopCorners are my favorite, especially Cocoa Crunch. Imma buy the entire shelf of them,” said one person. “I finished a whole bag in two days,” commented another fan on a separate Instagram post.

You can find PopCorners Cocoa Crunch and Smartfood Chocolate Caramel at retailers nationwide. If you don’t see them in the chip aisle, be sure to check the featured displays around the store, too. I tried the new Cocoa Crunch first, and here’s my honest review.

My Honest Review of PopCorners Cocoa Crunch

It took a few trips to different stores, but I was finally able to snag a bag of this limited-edition flavor at Target. When I first opened it, I was met with a strong hot chocolate smell. As I bit into the chip, the first thing I noticed was marshmallow flavor, followed by a subtle hint of cocoa.

Overall, these weren’t as flavorful as I expected. I feel like an all-marshmallow bag would be a better option and taste similar to Rice Krispies Treats or a popcorn ball. The chocolate didn’t come through enough for my preference, but I do think these would make an excellent treat for parties.
