Ferrero Rocher Is Coming for Ghirardelli With 4 Never-Before-Seen Chocolates

Regardless of where you stand on Ferrero Rocher’s confections, there’s no denying that its gold-wrapped pralines are one of the most iconic candies of all time. From the crushed hazelnuts to the rich chocolate-hazelnut cream, the roasted hazelnut center, and the crispy wafer cookie that adds the most delicate crunch, there’s nothing quite like sinking your teeth into a Ferrero Rocher truffle.

Some might even call the brand’s signature confection flawless. After all, how else could we explain the recipe that has remained (to our knowledge) unchanged for the last 43 years? That is, until now.

For the first time ever, Ferrero is giving its iconic sphere-shaped truffles a whole new spin. While it may look different, we have a feeling these will be just as good, if not better, than the OG praline truffle.

Ferrero Rocher Introduces New Chocolate Squares

Sure, Ghirardelli might’ve been the first one to introduce individually wrapped squares of chocolate that make the perfect afternoon indulgence, but Ferrero’s new Chocolate Squares aren’t just any old chocolate square.

Ferrero is taking all the wonderful textures and decadent flavors from its fan-favorite truffle and packing them into a new shape. While there won’t be a whole hazelnut at the center of each square, the single-serving chocolates do contain a silky chocolate-hazelnut filling strewn with toasted hazelnuts, and, of course, crispy wafer bits. In other words? It has snap, crunch, and melt-in-your-mouth softness—what’s there to complain about?

The all-new candy will come in four flavors: Milk Hazelnut, Dark Hazelnut, White Hazelnut, and Caramel Hazelnut, as well as an Assorted Mix.

According to the brand, the new chocolate squares are now rolling out to select retailers, with a larger nationwide release scheduled for Oct. 1. As of now, fans have spotted the square-shaped truffles at Walmart and Safeway.
