On Oct. 1, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a voluntary recall on two Bundt cakes from the Woodland Hills, California-based Doan’s Bakery due to undeclared allergens, including wheat and milk. The recalled cakes were sold by mail order via goldbelly.com, and were distributed nationwide.

According to the FDA, Doan’s Bakery is recalling two of its most popular Bundt cakes: the Carrot Bundt Cake and White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake. The latter is colloquially known as the “Tom Cruise Cake,” due to its popularity with Cruise and his affinity for sending the cake to other celebrities, especially during the holidays.

How To Identify the Recalled Bundt Cakes

This recall affects Doan’s Bakery Bundt cakes sold from June 1, 2025 through Sept. 24, 2025. This recall includes two products:

  • White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake (net weight 3 pound 12 ounces), which contains the following allergens: wheat, soy, milk, eggs
  • Carrot Bundt Cake (net weight 4 pounds), which contains the following allergens: wheat, soy, milk, eggs, tree nuts

Both cakes were recalled after a routine facility inspection on Sept. 24, 2025 revealed that the labels did not properly disclose two potentially life-threatening allergens, milk and wheat. According to the FDA, “Doan’s Bakery took immediate corrective action, and updated labeling is now in place across all affected products.”

What To Do if You Have the Recalled Bundt Cakes

As of now, there have been no reports of allergic reactions or illnesses in connection with this recall. However, customers who have an allergy or sensitivity to wheat and/or milk should not consume these cakes, as they can trigger serious and even life-threatening allergic reactions.
