Some candies can instantly take you back in time. An original Reese’s, Snickers, or Crunch bar tastes exactly like it did decades ago, so it has the power to overwhelm you with nostalgia on the very first bite. But it’s rare for a brand-new candy to deliver that same familiar feeling.

That’s why I was stunned when I tried a candy at the Sweets & Snacks Expo this past May, that felt like I’d known it forever. From the very first taste, it struck a nostalgic chord—warm, cozy, and instantly comforting. Since then, I’ve been patiently waiting for it to arrive in stores, and now the wait is over. It’s officially on shelves at Dollar Tree, and anyone who’s tried it knows exactly what I’m talking about.

New Werther’s Originals Gingerbread Caramels Found at Dollar Tree

If any brand could capture the feeling of a warm hug in candy form, it’s Werther’s Original. Maybe it’s the memory of finding them in grandma’s candy dish, or maybe it’s the signature richness of the real cream and butter recipe. Either way, Werther’s knows how to tug at the heartstrings.

And while I’m still happy to have Werther’s four fan-favorite fall candies back on shelves, my full attention right now is on the candy brand’s latest launch: a chewy caramel that’s equal parts nostalgic, cozy, and holiday-ready—Gingerbread Soft Caramels.

The new caramel treats are infused with gingerbread flavor, and the combination is spot-on. It’s almost like biting into a soft, just-out-of-the-oven ginger cookie that immediately melts in your mouth. True to the brand’s Old World-inspired recipes, this flavor feels like it’s been around forever—in the best way.

“Oh, yes, please to these,” one fan said. “Give me all the gingerbread everything,” commented another.

Beyond snacking, these flavored caramels present endless possibilities for holiday baking. Picture warmly spiced caramel drizzled over baked apples, tucked inside sugar cookies, layered into festive millionaire’s shortbread bars, or even mixed into holiday caramel corn.

The limited-edition caramel candies are available now at Dollar Tree, as well as Family Dollar, Walmart, and other retailers—so if you see them, grab them while you can.

In my book, these Werther’s Original treats are already a holiday must-have. Sure, it’s not quite time to hang stockings or string up garland—and I’ll let Halloween candy have its moment—but trust me: one bite of these, and you’ll be more than ready to skip straight to December.
