Dollar Tree Has a Holiday Staple for Just $1.25—and We’re Buying 5 at a Time

As grocery prices rise, shoppers are looking for more ways to stretch their food budget. Grabbing fast food copycats instead of hitting the drive-thru and making simple meals from scratch are typically great ways to start saving. But stocking your pantry with enough to last isn’t always cheap, especially if you’re filling it for the first time. Between cooking oils, leavening agents, and general baking ingredients, you can easily spend over $20 on supplies—a cost that can feel hefty when there’s no wiggle room in the budget.

Luckily, Dollar Tree makes it easy to fill the cabinets without breaking the bank. The retailer is a treasure trove for inexpensive staples, such as Jiffy Cornbread Mix, breakfast cereal, and frozen meals.

Recently, we noticed a baking essential on shelves that’s cheaper than we’ve seen anywhere else.

Nancy Jane All-Purpose Flour 

Dollar Tree just dropped its first holiday store ad of the season, and it’s filled to the brim with finds you won’t want to miss. Shoppers can snag seasoning, sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and plenty of dinnerware to impress your guests, generally for less than $2 per item. One product in particular that caught our attention is Dollar Tree’s $1.25 Nancy Jane All-Purpose Flour.

Each bag contains two pounds of flour, giving you more than enough to make cake, homemade tortillas, and pizza crust out of the same bag. The brand is owned by North Carolina-based Home Grown Family Foods, LLC, which produces several lines, including Southern Biscuit and Tenda-Bake, sold at Dollar General and Walmart.

While Gold Medal and King Arthur offer pre-sifted flour—an aerated version ideal for baking—it’s unclear whether Nancy Jane flour is. Either way, it’s an easy extra step to do yourself.

All you need to do is place the flour into a fine mesh sieve over a dry bowl and tap the side until all the flour has passed through. If you don’t have a sifter, whisk it gently in a bowl until it’s light and no visible lumps remain. Considering how inexpensive this flour is, it’s worth taking an extra minute to do this.
