If you didn’t know, the retailer carries an impressive private-label brand, while also stocking exclusive favorites from names like International Delight and M&M’s. And now, you can find one of the most nostalgic sodas of all time on its shelves, too. While it isn’t technically exclusive to Dollar General, it’s so rare to find anywhere else that it might as well be.

RC Cherry Cola Has Arrived at Dollar General

It’s true: Dollar General is officially stocking RC Cherry Cola, the vintage soda that’s had fans on the hunt for years.

Royal Crown Cola (better known as RC) has been an American classic since its start in 1905 in Columbus, Georgia. By the 1950s, an RC Cola and a Moon Pie were such a popular combo that it was dubbed “the working man’s lunch” throughout the South. And while the 100-year-old brand has experimented with plenty of flavors through its history, RC Cherry Cola, first released in 1985, is the undisputed standout.

“Better than regular RC!” one Redditor raved. Another admitted, “I love RC and I’m infatuated with RC cherry.”

Fans have described it as having the “crisp, bubbly carbonation of Coke” with a sweetness somewhere between Cherry Coke and Wild Cherry Pepsi and “infused with a perfectly balanced cherry flavor.” And many don’t just stop at calling it the best RC flavor—they consider it the top cherry cola of all time. 

“It’s the best of the cherry colas,” one fan argued. “It beats out Coke for my favorite cherry cola. It’s delicious,” another declared.

The only problem is, it’s one of those sodas that’s almost impossible to find—so elusive that fans call it their “white whale.” It’s never actually been discontinued, just quietly released here and there in limited runs.
