I’m not a fair-weather fan when it comes to grocery shopping. I am fiercely loyal to brands I love and will go full throttle on every product in the portfolio. My tea chest is almost exclusively Harney & Sons. My snack shelf has four different flavors of Quest tortilla chips. And my deli drawer is an homage to Tillamook, which is basically a requirement if you live in the Pacific Northwest.
Another PNW brand I love? Dave’s Killer Bread. This bread aisle darling is a mainstay in my weekly diet and grocery budget, as it’s the best way for me to get quality, organic bread for less than $10 a week.
What started as a farmers’ market bread in Portland 20 years ago has grown into a national name-brand with more than two dozen breads and snack items. Some sort of Dave’s Killer Bread is on my breakfast table every day, from the Killer Classic English Muffins to the 100% Whole Wheat Thin-Sliced to the Boomin’ Berry Bagels. And no cookout or backyard barbecue would be complete without Dave’s Burger Buns Done Right.
However, there’s been one major type of bread missing from the lineup: sourdough. And as a millennial with a penchant for avocado toast, it hurts to cheat on Dave’s with another brand to get my sourdough fix. But that changes now: Dave’s Killer Bread has finally released a sourdough.
Dave’s Killer Bread Introduces New Supreme Sourdough
Say hello to Dave’s Killer Bread Supreme Sourdough. This brand-new loaf is the bread company’s first foray into sourdough, but it still has a signature Dave’s flourish. The pre-sliced loaves feature the iconic Good Seed topping featured on various other products.

Each one-pound loaf has about 13 thick slices, which are perfect for a sturdy toast foundation or the beginning of sourdough croutons. And like other larger loaves in the Dave’s Killer Bread universe, this Supreme Sourdough has a suggested price of $6.99.
As someone who freezes half of her loaf each week to cut grocery costs and avoid food waste, I can attest that Dave’s bread, muffins, bagels, buns, etc., freeze—and thaw!—beautifully. So, I’m personally excited to keep a stock in my freezer to grab a single slice of sourdough whenever I need the perfect base for a brunch toast creation or a thick slice of bread to pair with some meal-prepped soup.
And I’m not the only one excited about this launch. Many Dave’s Killer Bread fans have been waiting for this day. When the brand announced the news on Instagram, fans flooded the comments.
“This is the greatest news I’ve heard in a long time,” someone said. Like me, the person added that they also buy Dave’s, but then have to buy an alternative sourdough brand. “Now I won’t have to!” they said. “I feel seen!”
“Yes! No more subscription sourdough,” another chimed in. And one fan simply said, “Game over.”
Honestly, it could be game over for other bread companies. Dave’s Killer Bread is already one of the most popular organic bread brands in major retailers across the country. And now it’s creeping into the sourdough lane. As one fan put it, “Dave keeps killin’ it!”
However, not every bread aisle is getting this new release. For now, Dave’s Killer Bread is a West Coast exclusive and is only available at select retailers in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington. (As a Seattleite, I found the new item at both Safeway and Walmart.)
So, if you’re on the East Coast and feeling left out, I’m truly sorry. I will refrain from rubbing it in and telling you my plans for making a delicious, perfectly melty, ultra-comforting, ooey-gooey, grilled cheese with Tillamook and Supreme Sourdough.
