Fall is officially here, heralding what’s always a gold mine season for food brands: gourd season. Autumnal, orange displays greet you as soon as you step inside any grocery store. Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese has finally made its way back to Trader Joe’s shelves. Aldi regulars are stocking up on the best seasonal soups. And, of course, the Starbucks fall menu is getting in on all the pumpkin spice latte action. But fall is also the season when warm, cozy baked goods are finally back in stock—always ready at a moment’s notice when you don’t have time to make your own.
Standing out among the rest is an offering that Costco members wait for every year. It’s a classic, but this warehouse bakery version is reportedly a cut above the rest compared to other grocery stores—and shoppers just can’t get enough. In fact, they buy extra and stock their freezers.
Costco’s Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Streusel Muffins
Costco’s Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Streusel Muffins are back. The bakery offering has changed slightly in appearance from year to year, yet each fall, members flock to the warehouse to stock up—before swiftly pivoting to their home freezers to store more for later. The eight-pack tray is priced at $7.93 this year, and fans on social media said the muffins freeze and thaw really well.
Costco members @meganandmaddie shared a video of the new muffins on Instagram, and their high praise starts from the moment they open the package. Apparently, the muffins smell incredible, and are “moist but crunchy on the top,” with a punchy pumpkin spice flavor to boot.
One fan commented on the video with, “Bought them, loved them, wrapped them individually in freezer bags.” And several others said they now need to go back to Costco to snag these muffins.
Fans on Reddit support this general consensus, too. “They freeze really well,” said one Redditor. “Cut them in half, wrap in some of that amazing Kirkland premium plastic wrap, and toss them in the freezer.”
In another Reddit thread, one Redditor said they “followed the shaft of heavenly light to the bakery” and, upon arriving, scored the muffins, which “hit all the right notes for me.” They went on to say, “I have to rush a bunch of these into my freezer. Otherwise, I will finish off the eight-pack by tomorrow.” Other shoppers mentioned that these are a good alternative to Costco’s popular Butter Cinnamon Sugar Loaf Cake, which is notoriously hard to find.
But what’s even better than the taste is the unbeatable price. TikTok user @thelavelleshow did a double-take upon realizing how much they paid for the muffins. “This was only $7?” they exclaimed. “That’s less than a dollar a muffin!”
They go on to praise the muffins for being rich, moist, and not too sweet. If you needed a sign to run to your local Costco for some fall indulgence, this is it. But don’t wait. This seasonal treat is sure to sell out.
