Each year we struggle with figuring out what to gift the people on our holiday shopping lists. Our immediate friends and family may be easy, but there are plenty of folks to consider. We also shop for coworkers, extended family, white elephant exchanges, and any delivery workers or service providers we may want to thank.
That’s why we fall back on the old reliable: chocolate. It’s a beloved classic that you can stick in a stocking, pop under a tree, or just simply gift with a pretty ribbon or bow. And one of our favorite chocolate brands to gift is Lindt. Truffles, bars, and spreads—Lindt products make it easy to cross off that gift list.
However, the latest Lindt product is something completely over the top. It seems like it’s more of a gift to buy for yourself, and not others. But if anyone wants to send one our way, we won’t complain!
Costco Unveils 5-Foot Giant Lindt Advent Calendar
It’s already Advent calendar season—at least at big box retailers—and there are so many new Advent calendars to help us count down the holiday season, such as Tillamook’s new cheese calendar. But Costco has a new Giant Lindt Advent Calendar that tops them all—literally. It’s a five-foot-tall calendar filled with two dozen, full-sized chocolate products. Yes, really.
The Costco find includes Lindt Lindor Truffles, teddies, chocolate bars, and more. It’s currently selling for $190, but prices may change regionally. And with 97 ounces of chocolate treats to enjoy, that price breaks down to about $2 an ounce.
This giant gift has already earned mixed reactions on social media. Some people are excited by the spectacle of a mega treat. “No way,” shared one fan on Instagram. “This is epic!”
“As someone who loves a countdown to just about anything, I need [it],” said another on Instagram. “
[It’s a] must-have.”
The big size is a big selling point, with some social media fans saying it would be a great gift to share with friends or family. One shopper on Reddit thought that it would make a fun, interactive gift at a shared office. “I also imagine it would be a cool gift at a high end white elephant gift swap,” they added.
But others have shared that the giant chocolate calendar was overpriced, or that the amount of chocolate was excessive. “For that price, I can buy a week of meals to [feed] my family,” someone said on Instagram. “I [will] skip this.”
One Redditor thought this was too much for an Advent calendar. “Isn’t the whole point of Advent calendars to get a little treat each day?,” they asked. “Kinda defeats the purpose to get an entire bag of truffles that (hopefully) lasts more than one day.”
Would you dig into this giant chocolate calendar? If so, it’s now available at Costco nationwide. And good luck trying to wait until December to start digging in!
