Key Takeways

  • Chick-fil-A is coming for Starbucks with a brand-new beverage-focused concept.
  • The new menu will feature innovative beverages, including specialty coffees, smoothies, and juices—but won’t offer Chick-fil-A’s signature food or drinks.
  • The standalone concept joins expansion projects, like Little Blue Menu, in continuing Chick-fil-A’s innovation efforts.

Chick-fil-A may be known for its classic chicken nuggets, but the fast food chain’s offerings extend far beyond your basic tenders and signature sauce. From seasonal selections to twists on menu favorites, the chain (and its devout fans) is always coming up with new offerings and hacks that somehow make the menu even better. And just when we thought CFA mastered the fast food chicken nugget, the brand is once again surprising fans—but instead of a new menu item, Chick-fil-A is launching what may be its biggest concept yet.

Chick-fil-A Is Launching a Beverage-Only Concept This Fall

Move over, Starbucks—Chick-fil-A is gearing up to launch a new concept dedicated solely to beverages. According to a press release, the fast-food chain’s innovation brand, Red Wagon Ventures, is launching a beverage-focused standalone called “Daybright” later this fall in Georgia.

Unlike a typical Chick-fil-A restaurant, Daybright locations won’t serve chicken nuggets, crispy waffle fries, or any of the signature sandwiches the chain is known for. Instead, Daybright, which will open in the Greater Atlanta area, will focus solely on beverages—and no, CFA’s beloved lemonade is not on the menu.

In fact, Daybright will not overlap with CFA’s current beverage offerings and, instead, will offer innovative drink creations, including specialty coffees, smoothies, and cold-pressed juices. And while exact details are still under wraps, a spokesperson for the brand told People Magazine that more information about the Daybright concept will be revealed in the coming months. What we do know, however, is that Chick-fil-A’s signature lemonades, frosted lemonades, milkshakes, and select coffees will not be offered at Daybright.

CFA’s expansion isn’t the first time a fast food brand has pivoted to the beverage industry. Of course, McDonald’s launched McCafĂ© in the United States in 2001, and Taco Bell just recently opened its first Live Más CafĂ© storefronts in California.

As for Chick-fil-A specifically, Daybright is another addition to Red Wagon Venture’s portfolio. In addition to more than 3,200 CFA locations nationwide, the chain also has one Little Blue Menu location in College Park, Maryland. The Little Blue Menu restaurant features an expanded CFA menu and test items for the national chain, including pizzas, chicken wings, sweet potato fries, unique beverages, and desserts. And although Daybright won’t offer food, the new concept may also serve as a test market for Chick-fil-A’s nationwide beverage offerings.

While it may be too early to tell exactly how delicious Daybright’s menu will be, if Chick-fil-A and Little Blue Menu’s current offerings are any indication, I think it’s safe to say that fans are in for a treat.
