It’s been a banner year for Cheez-It, from releasing innovative new snack textures and delicious limited-edition flavors to finally giving gluten-free fans a taste of that satisfying signature Cheddar goodness. It’s also been a completely unhinged year for Cheez-It, and I mean that as the highest compliment. As a brand, Cheez-It gets weird, from hamburger crackers to the most over-the-top pool float.
This year, we’ve seen Cheez-It go where it’s never gone before, from taco shells to pizza crusts. And that forward, cheesy momentum ain’t stopping anytime soon. Oh, no. Cheez-It has saved its most fantastical creation for the holidays with a brand-new, first-of-its-kind product that I’m convinced has already won Christmas.
Sorry, gingerbread. You’ve been dethroned.
Cheez-It Releases New Holiday House Kit
Season’s Greetings from the most unhinged Yuletide fever dream ever: the Cheez-It Holiday House Kit. Created in partnership with Cookies United, the new product looks like a festive gingerbread house, with one minor tweak: It’s made of cheese.

Y’all, it’s all cheese. Cheez-It shingles. Cheez-It windows. Is that a Cheez-It doormat or a concrete walkway? Doesn’t matter. It’s a Cheez-It. And those large structural pieces—the walls and chimney? Oh, they’re cookies, alright. They’re “cheese-flavored” cookies.
As someone who enjoys more salty, savory snacks around the holidays (especially “Peanuts”-branded Chex Party Mix), this is going at the top of my wish list. I love assembling gingerbread houses, but I don’t like the amount of food waste that comes with it. Because who actually wants to eat those stale pieces of cardboard? Cheez-It, however, is already shelf-stable for what seems like a millennium. There’s a reason these crackers are served in-flight and still taste completely sharp and tangy, even though, scientifically, we have a harder time tasting food when we’re up in the air.
My initial reaction to seeing the Cheez-It Holiday House Kit? Pure, wide-eyed joy, which was quickly followed by furrowed brows and the question, “But what about the glue?”
So, here’s where Cheez-It maybe jumps the shark. Like a traditional gingerbread house kit, this one comes with red and green candy pieces, as well as a packet of pre-made icing. I believe the better play would be Easy Cheese. Or perhaps some cold, raw Velveeta for any major brickwork or detailed grout.
Still, it’s not the first time we’ve doused Cheez-It Crackers in sugar, so maybe don’t knock it ’til you try it. And if you do want to try it, you’ll find this unique item at select major retailers, such as Walmart, where it’s priced at $15.76—making it a great find for White Elephant gag gifts.
But that’s assuming you don’t keep it for yourself!
