Cheez-It Is Launching Its Biggest Innovation in 3 Years, and We Tried It First

There are plenty of Cheez-It varieties for us to want and need, from the original cheesy crackers to the Extra line, Snap’d, Grooves, Duos, and Puff’d. However, even though Cheez-It has crackers for those who like them extra toasty, extremely thin, airy, and well-seasoned, the brand must not have felt like it had cornered the crunchy market yet. 

Sure, all Cheez-Its are baked and crunchy—and it released an Extra Crunchy box last year—but as the demand for crunchy snacks continues to grow, Cheez-It decided to get even crunchier. 

So, in its biggest product innovation since it released Puff’d in 2022, Cheez-It is launching an all-new line of Cheez-It Crunch snacks.

Introducing the New Cheez-It Crunch Line

Not only is Cheez-It Crunch a new kind of snack for Cheez-It, but it’s also a brand-new shape. The Cheez-It Crunch “cheesy baked snacks” have a window pane-like shape with four holes in the square, instead of Cheez-It’s signature one. The new snack is slightly puffed for a bold crunch and generously seasoned with one of Cheez-It Crunch’s three flavors. 

Cheez-It Crunch will be released in Kick’n Nacho Cheese, Zesty Jalapeño Cheddar, and Sharp White Cheddar flavors. 

The new innovation will begin rolling out in October, with the Kick’n Nacho Cheese and Zesty Jalapeño Cheddar Cheez-It Crunch set to hit 7-Eleven stores. Following the soft launch this fall, Cheez-It Crunch Sharp White Cheddar and full-sized bags of all three varieties will be available on the shelves of major retailers nationwide beginning in January.

I tried Cheez-It Crunch Kick’n Nacho Cheese and Zesty Jalapeño Cheddar early, and here is my honest review.

My Honest Review of Cheez-It Crunch

I’m a longtime Cheez-It fan, with my snack of choice typically being the White Cheddar Grooves, but many other Cheez-It varieties have stolen my heart. Out of all the Cheez-It crackers I have tried, Cheez-It Crunch was the most unexpected. 

Cheez-It Crunch looks almost like Cheetos with an airy, puffy, corn-like texture—and the crunch lives up to its name. The snack is incredibly crunchy and packs a bold flavor punch. 

My favorite was the Zesty Jalapeño Cheddar variety, as it offered a great balance of the cheesy flavor you know and crave from Cheez-It, with a heat that lingered and had me reaching for more. I unknowingly finished an entire bag in one sitting because I just couldn’t stop eating them.

As a White Cheddar Grooves lover, I’m also excited to try the extra-crunchy version when the Cheez-It Crunch flavor hits shelves in January.

It’s hard to compare Cheez-It Crunch to any other product, since there really isn’t anything like it on the market. So, you’ll just have to try Cheez-It Crunch for yourself to see what the buzz is all about.
