A trip to Aldi is a little more chaotic than a traditional grocery store. Its shopping cart model, quick checkout, and self bagging may take a little getting used to. But the deals, steals, and copycat homewares make it oh-so worth it.
Now through Oct. 21, shoppers will find an extra special copycat in the Aldi “Aisle of Shame.” The budget grocer is offering three versions of a stainless steel kitchen staple, and it looks remarkably similar to an expensive All-Clad version. But the Aldi Find is less than $35.
Aldi’s Crofton Crofton Stainless Steel Pasta Pot
Allrecipes / Aldi
Aldi’s Crofton Pasta Pot is available in two different sizes: six or eight quarts. The smaller version features a completely stainless steel pot, as well as two different options for the lid and handles. One features copper handles and a copper lid, and the other is entirely stainless steel. In both versions, the lid is perforated in one small area, making it easy to drain boiling liquids without the use of a colander.
The larger version has a different construction. Instead of a perforated lid, it has a solid lid and a colander insert. You can boil your food with the colander insert already in the pot, then simply (and carefully) lift the insert out of the pot and the extra boiling liquid will drip back into the pot. The insert can also be removed, and the pot can be used as a normal pasta pot for sauces, big-batch soups, and more.
All three pasta pots are selling for $34.99. While that price is higher than many Aldi kitchenwares, the value for such an important kitchen workhorse is unmatched. A similar All-Clad eight-quart stainless steel pot with a colander insert sells for $189.99, which is more than five time the price of the Aldi pot.
A big, trusty pasta pot is a kitchen must-have. So if you need this large pot in your home, or know someone who may want it for the holidays, you can snag one at Aldi this week.
