Candy is the perfect way for anyone to relive their childhood. Whether it’s stumbling upon a candy bar you haven’t sunk your teeth into since being a kid or when a brand revives an iconic fan favorite, the connection between taste and memory can be pretty strong.
Last summer, many of us felt that sense of nostalgia when Altoids Sours returned to shelves under a new name, Retro Sours. While the early 2000s candy underwent a brand makeover, the familiar tin cans and extra sour flavor made the almost 10-year wait for the candy’s return worthwhile. Now, the brand is releasing four new flavors for longtime and new fans to enjoy.

Now that Retro Sours has been in stores for a year, Iconic Candy, the brand that’s responsible for bringing back the treat, is ready to take things to the next level. It’s expanding the Retro Sours lineup and launching four new flavors that will certainly make your mouth pucker: Raspberry, Watermelon, Passionfruit, and Red Apple.
Although the candy may look different from the original, its bold flavor, featuring a bright zing and a touch of fruity sweetness, will transport you right back to the early 2000s.
“Bringing back iconic candies isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s about creating joy and sharing those memories with a new generation,” Kim Wiesen, CFO and co-owner of Iconic Candy, said in a press release.
What do fans think of the new flavors? Well, judging by social media, they are more than thrilled to see some new additions to the lineup.
“Oooo Red Apple sounds delicious! Can’t wait to try it,” one fan commented on the brand’s Instagram.
Another person chimed in, “Wait…Apple?! Stop, I’m ordering from the site right now.”
The new Retro Sours are available now at Walmart stores nationwide and online through the Iconic Candy website.
Whether you’re a millennial craving the candy you grew up with or you’ve never heard of Retro Sours and are intrigued by the sweet and sour treat, you can’t go wrong with picking up a pack or two of the iconic candy.
