We have to admit, we’re harboring a bit of a gripe with the Costco bakery right now. You see, it used to be that cake was something we reserved for celebrations: birthdays, holidays, weddings—all occasions when we could rely on Costco to provide top-tier desserts.

But these days, the bakery is churning out new specialty bar cakes at a downright reckless pace, and suddenly, cake has gone from a special-occasion treat to a full-time lifestyle. With flavors like Black Forest, peaches and cream, and caramel tres leches, what are we meant to do—ignore them? Please.

And right on cue, Costco has done it again, debuting yet another showstopping layered bar cake that’s destined to end up in our carts.

Costco Launches a New Crème Brûlée Bar Cake in the Bakery

Costco’s latest cake creation is the Crème BrĂ»lĂ©e Bar Cake—a dessert that looks equal parts elegant and comforting.

The artisanal-style cake features layers of light vanilla sponge cake, creamy crème brĂ»lĂ©e mousse, and a crunchy brĂ»lĂ©e layer in between. It’s topped with a marble-like spread of white and gold frosting, dollops of whipped topping, and a golden sugar accent—a touch of holiday sparkle, if you will.

Creator @costcohotfinds shared the new dessert on Instagram, and fans in the comments captured exactly what we were all thinking: “Costco bar cakes are my weakness, and I will be getting this,” wrote one person. “Someone give me a fork,” another added.

Whoever dreamed up the idea to combine cake and crème brûlée deserves a round of applause. The pairing of silky vanilla custard with an airy sponge, plus the signature crackly sugar crunch? Pure genius.

And luckily, it seems to taste every bit as good as it looks. Shoppers have reported, “It’s light, it’s creamy, and it’s just the right amount of sweet.” Another added, “Got it Monday and it did not disappoint. It’s delicious.”

The Crème Brûlée Bar Cake is available now in the Costco bakery for $18.99, while supplies last—and if other members are just as excited as we are, that might not be for long.

And just like that, another shopping trip meant for “essentials” turns into a cake run. We’ll put a written complaint in the Costco bakery slot box—or maybe we won’t.
