There are few things as comforting as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia and the memories it stirs. Or maybe, just maybe, we cracked the code and peanut butter and jelly really is the perfect combination. Either way, we love PB&Js here at Allrecipes, and we’re not the only ones who feel this way.
When Uncrustables hit the market in the 1990s, offering shoppers the brilliant idea of a crustless PB&J, it instantly became a crowd favorite. This year, the brand is poised to surpass $1 billion in sales and doesn’t show signs of slowing down.
We love Uncrustables as much as the next person, but there is one slightly annoying thing about them. It’s that they come frozen and need to be defrosted. Of course, we could technically eat an Uncrustables sandwich straight from the freezer, but why would we, given that we know it tastes infinitely better after it’s thawed?
If you get where we’re coming from, then you might want to know there’s a new crustless sandwich in stores, and it doesn’t even require freezing. That’s right: Uncrustables’ biggest inconvenience has just been solved—by a different company.
Introducing Fave’Wich Crustless Sandwiches
Fave’Wich
Move over Uncrustables, because there’s a brand-new crustless sandwich in stores. Introducing Fave’Wich, a fresh, crustless sandwich packed with creamy sunflower butter and sweet grape jelly that’s 100 percent freezer-free. That means you can enjoy these whenever the craving strikes—straight from the package, with no need to account for defrosting time. Talk about easy!
Each sandwich features fresh-baked bread from Gold Medal Bakery, a fourth-generation, family-owned baking company, dedicated to quality. Since these are sold fresh, it’s best to enjoy them immediately or within seven days of purchase—though something tells us they’ll disappear sooner than that.
“We are so excited to put a fresh twist on a nostalgic favorite!” said Brian LeComte, president of Gold Medal Bakery, in a press release. “With our legacy of baking delicious bread products, we believe snacking should be fresh, easy, and delicious—without the freezer or the wait. Our crust–free sandwich is not only freezer–free, but also made with the same high–quality, freshly baked bread that has defined our brand for generations. Your fave just got even better!”
This snacking newcomer only made its debut in June 2025, but it’s already turning out to be a fan favorite. “Delicious doesn’t even cover it!” someone commented on the brand’s Instagram page. “Obsessed,” another added.
Fave’Wich currently offers only one flavor, its signature sunflower butter and grape jelly. If you haven’t tried sunflower butter before—a rich, creamy spread made with roasted sunflower seeds—now is your chance. Not only is it a fantastic allergen-free alternative to nut butters, but it’s also delicious. Think toasty, earthy, nutty flavors—except without nuts. (Not sure where to start? Trader Joe’s has a pretty decent one for those who like their butters bordering on dessert territory.)
Fave’Wich is available now at Shaws, Stop & Shop, Food Bazaar, Roche Bros, Big Y, and select CVS stores. Alternatively, you can order the sandwiches in 12-packs from the brand’s website or on BakeryBox.com.
While we’ll always love a classic peanut butter and jelly sammy, Fave’Wich is introducing an all-new way to enjoy the iconic lunch box snack—and we can’t say we’re mad about it. But, how does it stack up against Uncrustables? We’ll leave that up to you to make the judgment.
