It’s pretty obvious that, as a dairy company, Tillamook is big in the grilled cheese game. Not only does the company sell both cheese and butter (the traditional ingredient used on the outside of the bread), but its Oregon-based creamery also sells more than 100,000 grilled cheese sandwiches every year. So, obviously, the folks over at Tillamook are pretty serious about a grilled cheese.

Earlier this year, Tillamook introduced a new Smoked Medium Cheddar Cheese that we knew would change the grilled cheese game with a new, hickory-smoked flavor. But now, the company has debuted a new, first-of-its-kind product that is so brilliant, it will actually change the sandwich world forever.

Tillamook Launches New Butternaise

Tillamook’s famous grilled cheese sandwich is uniquely made with both butter and mayonnaise on the outside of the bread, to provide flavor and ultra crispness. The company has always recommended using a 1:1 mix of butter and mayo spread, but now, it’s doing the work for you. Tillamook is debuting a new Butternaise that’s the perfect blend of rich butter and umami Kewpie mayo.

While Tillamook says only 12 percent of home cooks use mayo on their grilled cheese and 71 percent prefer butter (we’re not sure what the other 17 percent choose), Tillamook’s executive chef Josh Archibald says using both is the only way to make the ultimate sandwich. So, Tillamook teamed up with the world-renowned Kewpie mayo and Spiceology to create a new spread that’s the grilled sandwich’s must-have companion.

The spread is made with Tillamook’s award-winning Extra Creamy Salted Butter, Kewpie Organic Mayonnaise, and Spiceology’s Alvin Cailan Fries Szn Blend, which is a mix of sugar, onion, cayenne pepper, garlic, and paprika. The result is a creamy spread that delivers a bold flavor, while providing the perfect, evenly browned crust every time.

Tillamook’s new Butternaise spread will be available exclusively on Tillamook’s site beginning Nov. 6, while supplies last. Each eight-ounce jar of spread will come with a spreader and Tillamook Medium Cheddar and Sharp Cheddar Cheese, which Chef Josh recommends using two slices of each on any grilled cheese.

How could the simple, delectable grilled cheese get any better, you ask? Well, Tillamook just found a way.
