Kraft Is Releasing Its Most Unhinged Mac and Cheese Flavor Yet

Fall is synonymous with warm dinners and cozy casseroles, and nothing hits the spot quite like macaroni and cheese. Whether it’s straight out of a box (or microwaveable cup) for a quick lunch on a cold weekday or a more elaborate bake with a homemade cheese sauce and bread crumb topping, mac and cheese is consistently a comforting pick.

Brands such as Trader Joe’s have even upped the fall vibes with flavors such as butternut squash, but none can top Kraft. The signature nostalgic brand recently announced a new seasonal flavor, and as autumnal as it is, the new Kraft Mac & Cheese might be the most out-there pasta product yet.

Kraft Just Introduced a New Apple Pie Mac & Cheese

No Thanksgiving dinner is complete without a casserole-style side and a pie for dessert, and this year, Kraft Mac & Cheese is combining two Turkey Day classics into one unforgettable holiday dish. And while you may be imagining green bean casserole or sweet potato pie, Kraft’s new sweet and savory pasta is a little more unexpected, and packed with a whole lot of holiday flavor. 

Just in time for the holidays, the signature blue box brand is debuting Kraft Mac & Cheese Apple Pie flavor. This sweet-and-savory flavor is shockingly delicious thanks to Kraft’s signature creamy macaroni and cheese combined with warm apple pie spices for the ultimate seasonal flavor mashup. Kraft’s unexpected new take on America’s favorite dessert is a first-of-its-kind addition to your fall meal rotation, complete with cheesy, spiced, and subtly tart notes.

Sweet macaroni and cheese may seem jarring at first, but the finished product might not be so controversial when you consider its basic flavors. Apple and cheese—especially cheddar—isn’t an uncommon combo for grilled cheese sandwiches or charcuterie, and the diced fruit is a typical pairing for fondue. In fact, there’s even a recipe for Apple Cheddar Cheese Pie if you can’t get enough of the duo.

Though it’s definitely the most out-there flavor as of late, Apple Pie Mac and Cheese isn’t the first time that Kraft has thought outside the blue box in recent years. Following the success of the uber-popular Everything Bagel Mac & Cheese, the brand debuted a Pizza Mac & Cheese for the ideal comfort food mash-up, and released both a Hot Honey and Garlic Parm flavors just a few weeks ago.

Each iteration Kraft has dropped has been pretty incredible, so while I’m definitely skeptical about the newest flavor offering, I’ll dare to say that I’m more intrigued by it than anything else. The dessert-flavored pasta is available nationwide at Walmart, and fans can purchase online beginning Nov. 3 if they want to try it for themselves, while supplies last.
