Costco is known for its wide array of bulk groceries, heat-and-eat meals, and of course, food court favorites, but the warehouse store also has a pretty incredible selection of copycat products you shouldn’t overlook. In addition to pantry staples like Kind granola bars and Kerrygold butter, Costco also offers quite a few fast food look-alikes—including chicken nuggets that fans argue are almost identical to Chick-fil-A’s. Now, the grocery chain is releasing another copycat item that’s reminiscent of a fan-favorite Panera item, and fans can’t wait to get their hands on it.
Costco Is Selling La Boulangerie’s Croissant Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
If you’re a Panera fan who was disappointed when the bakery and cafĂ© chain retired the Fromage Croissant Toast, then you’re in luck. Costco recently released a new item that reminds us of the beloved Panera sandwich. What’s more, the new La Boulangerie Croissant Grilled Cheese is already being lauded by fans.
Just like Panera’s version, each Costco sandwich features a combination of sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese melted between two slices of La Boulangerie’s croissant toast. This simple yet delicious sandwich is the ideal midday meal, or as a satisfying side for soup during the colder months.
“Lemme get 20 of these,” one fan commented on an Instagram video, which showcased the new sandwiches.
“I had one this morning that I heated up in the air fryer,” admitted one Costco shopper, before confirming that “it was delicious!”
“How much is a Costco membership?” asked another fan. “I’m going to have to get one just for these.”
Each box of La Boulangerie’s Croissant Grilled Cheese sandwiches retails for $14.99 and includes six individually wrapped sandwiches, which brings the cost to about $2.50 per sandwich—a bargain compared to what you’d pay at a typical cafĂ©.
The croissant grilled cheese isn’t the only new addition at Costco, either. The wholesaler also dropped La Boulangerie Smoked Ham & Swiss Cheese Pockets that are gooey and cheesy, giving you all the cozy cafĂ© vibes from the comfort of your home. Both bready bites heat easily for a gourmet lunch or dinner at home.
The only catch? La Boulangerie is based in San Francisco, and the sandwiches are only available in the frozen aisle at Bay Area Costco warehouses as of now. Luckily, it’s pretty simple to make at home with classic Costco ingredients—all you need is a signature Kirkland croissant, your cheeses of choice, and an air fryer. Or, you can always rely on a nationwide favorite (like the Jalapeño Cheddar Loaf).
