We are deep in pumpkin spice season, from Costco’s new bagels to Trader Joe’s returning brioche. But it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and the most important pumpkin spice day of all is weeks away: Thanksgiving.

Because Turkey Day is really all about the pie, and pumpkin pie is the headliner of a true dessert table. We know our way around the perfect pumpkin pie—right down to the best canned pumpkin. We even sought out expert advice from professional pastry chefs. And while you can’t go wrong with a classic can of Libby’s Pumpkin, there’s a new product heading to the baking aisle from one of our all-time favorite brands that changes everything in the pie game.

Sorry, Libby’s. French Grandma knows best.

Bonne Maman Releases New Pumpkin Pie Filling

Bonne Maman

Fruit preserve brand Bonne Maman just released two new pie filling flavors: Pumpkin and Four Fruits, which features a blend of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and red currants. The new 21.1-ounce jars build on the success of other pie fillings in the French company’s lineup: Apple, Blueberry, and Cherry. The latter impressed us all so much that we awarded it a coveted Golden Cart Award earlier this year.

Bonne Maman is a common French nickname for grandma, and the brand has become a darling in the U.S. over the years. Even if you’ve never tried one of the many fruit preserves, jellies, or spreads, you’ve likely seen the iconic glass jar with a gingham-clad lid at the grocery store or on Amazon Fresh. (Fig Preserves is always in my cart. I put it on everything.)

You’ll also find several flavors at World Market, as well as in the random food aisle at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. And we stake out Costco every year for the annual Bonne Maman Advent Calendar. These spreads never let us down, especially as we approach the holiday season. They’re clutch for quick cheese boards, easy jam cookies, and more. I love reusing the cottagecore jars for homemade food gifts, too. (I currently have a stockpile of former jars housing a new batch of Cherry Bounce that should be ready by Christmas.)

The new Pumpkin Pie Filling has all of our editors wide-eyed with excitement. It’s the cozy, heartwarming quality of Bonne Maman plus the easy, low-prep shortcut we’re desperate for this time of year. It’s a Thanksgiving miracle.

Now, to make a true pumpkin pie, you’d still need to add eggs and milk to the jarred product. But for other pumpkin pies, such as a no-bake pumpkin cheesecake, this is pie in a jar. You could even mix it with Philadelphia’s new cream cheese frosting flavor for the ultimate autumnal dessert dip. People would write songs about that combo.

Bonne Maman Pumpkin and Four Fruits Pie Fillings are now available at select retailers nationwide with a suggested retail price of $9.99. We’re racing to the baking aisle to try these new fillings in a pie. Or, as Allrecipes’ Editorial New Director Devon O’Brien said, “I’d just eat that by the spoonful.”
