At some point or another, we’ve all reached our hands into a crinkly brown sleeve in search of a buttery, salty Ritz cracker. Whether in a classroom, on a picnic blanket, or on the bus, the cracker’s crisp snap, which melts into a soft, buttery bite, is impossible to forget. And while there have been dozens of fun takes on the humble Ritz crackerāsuch asĀ hot honeyĀ andĀ spicy quesoāwe’ll admit the OG salted version is close to perfect. It’s simple enough to dress up however we want (with a swipe of peanut butter or piled high with cheese and smoked ham, for example), and flavorful enough to keep us coming back for more.
But there is one limited-edition Ritz flavor that some fans argue is even better than the original scalloped-edge cracker. It’s so beloved that it’s not uncommon for shelves to be cleared when it hits stores. If your brain just went to fudge-covered crackers, then you’re in for a treat.

Who was it that said, “Everything tastes better with chocolate”? Anyone? Well, whoever at Nabisco decided to dip Ritz crackers into a smooth, creamy chocolate fudge deserves a medalāthis fan-favorite combination has been winning shoppers over for nearly 15 years.
“I buy a case of them every year, as soon as I see them available!” one fan shared on Reddit.
The fudge-covered Ritz is a seasonal offering that usually starts showing up around the winter holidays. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to snag a box of these coveted crackers, you know they’re good. The chocolate layer is the perfect amountājust enough to lend a sweet and delicate touch of decadence, but not so much that it overpowers the cracker’s signature buttery, salty flavor.
Last year, Costco brought bulk sizes of the seasonal flavor to its stores for the first time, and fans could hardly contain themselves. This year, there’s no word yet on whether Costco will bring them back, but the crackers have already been spotted at Walmart, Safeway, and Amazon Fresh.
“The Ritz fudge-covered crackers are the perfect pairing of a sweet and salty combination,” oneĀ reviewerĀ shared. “In the past two days, I have eaten two sleeves full of these crackers. They are that delicious.”
Another reviewer called them “the perfect treat,” adding, “it has the right amount of sweetness from the chocolate and that same great salty buttery taste from the cracker. It was hard to put them down. I hope they keep making them.”
Sure, we haven’t even made a dent in our Halloween candy yet, but we can’t say we’re mad about this festive snack making an early return to storesāit just means we get even more time to enjoy it.
