If I had to choose one fast food restaurant, it’s Taco Bell. My love for the chain began in third grade during the chain’s iconic Y2K era. (Late ’90s Taco Bell will always have a special place in my heart.)

Throughout the years, I’ve continued to enjoy Taco Bell. I love trying the new launches, such as Cheesy Street Chalupas and tortilla chip-crusted chicken nuggets. But no matter how much I like Taco Bell’s new options, I’ll always add my longtime favorite menu item to every single one of my orders.

Taco Bell’s Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes

Taco Bell’s Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes are in a league of their own. For those unfamiliar, the side dish features golden, fried potato bites covered in Taco Bell’s iconic cheese sauce and topped with a dollop of sour cream. If you like loaded baked potatoes or cheesy hashbrown casseroles, you’ll love these, too.

And while these are delicious by the forkful, the tender bites are even better when used in your favorite entrées. They can be added to just about any burrito, taco, or bowl on the menu. You can swap the meat out entirely or, for a small fee, add potatoes to your favorite protein filling for a hearty upgrade.

My favorite item to customize with potatoes is the Crunchwrap Supreme. The layers of cheese, sour cream, and fresh veggies just work. And I’m not the only one who orders this. On Reddit, fans have been subbing in potatoes for years. “Taco Bell potatoes are the sleeper item of the menu,” said one Redditor.

“So good,” added another. “I like to add potatoes, sour cream, and nacho cheese to the shredded chicken burrito. It’s like having Fiesta Potatoes inside your burrito.”

In a separate Reddit discussion, fans shared more ways to enjoy the crispy staple. “Beefy 5-Layer with potatoes, black beans, and chipotle [sauce] is good grilled,” said one Redditor.

“I add them to my Chalupa Supremes with nacho cheese,” wrote another.

So, what are you waiting for? Go ring the bell and see for yourself why Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes are one of Taco Bell’s best menu items. And if you just can’t get enough, we’ve got a family-sized casserole version you can make right at home.
