It’s officially cozy season, or as I like to call it: Nostalgia Season. The chilly months bring holiday after holiday full of unique traditions, warm memories, and cherished family recipes—especially those that take us back to childhood. And the General Mills marketing team seems to understand that.

This summer, the cereal giant brought back three vintage cereals, complete with beloved Jim Henson puppets on the boxes. And now, heading into the holiday season, General Mills is partnering with another long-admired lineup of nostalgic characters.

Cue the Vince Guaraldi Trio. Christmas time is here.

General Mills Releases New Peanuts x Chex Cereal Boxes

Back for a second year, five Chex cereal boxes are getting a Peanuts-themed makeover for the holidays. These limited-edition boxes were a hit last year, and they’re extra special this year as the Peanuts franchise is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

I love every single Peanuts holiday special. And while the deep cut “It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown” is my ride or die and you can’t compete with the masterpiece that is “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” the holiday special that’s the most comforting—the one with a soundtrack that feels like I’m wrapped up in the biggest, warmest hug—is “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” And these designs celebrate that beloved holiday classic with iconic Peanuts characters in their winter wear:

  • Rice Chex features both Snoopy and Woodstock.
  • Corn Chex features the lovable, relatable Charlie Brown.
  • Wheat Chex features the iconic dreamer, Linus van Pelt, sans blanket.
  • Chocolate Chex features Pig-Pen, the enigmatic free spirit we should all aspire to be.
  • Cinnamon Chex features the legendary baddie, Lucy van Pelt, in her signature cobalt blue color.

Chex cereal is, of course, a holiday classic in its own right. I love a good cookie swap, but the MVP of a Christmas snack spread is that savory, salty Chex Party Mix. And Chex and Peanuts go way back. The two brands have been collaborating on holiday marketing campaigns since the 1980s, and with it came a world of themed holiday tins for fans to collect.

So, with the return of these limited-edition cereal boxes, there’s also a special, limited-time offer: If you purchase three participating Chex cereals, you can get a free, exclusive Chex x Peanuts Holiday Tin, complete with a Chex Party Mix seasoning packet and recipe card.

The new tin has a different design from last year and features additional characters, Franklin Armstrong and Sally Brown. Now, the fine print is that all three boxes must be purchased in a single transaction, and the offer will be fulfilled eight to 10 weeks after the program concludes, which ends on Jan. 7, 2026. So, you likely will not get this holiday tin for this holiday season.

But if 75 years of fandom tells us anything, it’s that these Peanuts specials never leave our hearts. So, if watching “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is a yearly tradition for you and your family, you might as well take advantage of this freebie now so you’ll have the perfect Chex Party Mix container next year.
