Eggo waffles hold a lot of sentimental value to me, even if it’s been years since I last ate them. Growing up, sleepovers at my grandparents’ house always ended with towering stacks of the toaster waffles covered in melty butter and puddles of maple syrup. My pop pop would take charge of the waffle-making, my grandma handled the bacon, and we’d finish the meal with a glass of orange juice.
Even though the frozen waffles haven’t made their way into my freezer in a hot minute, when I heard about Eggo’s upcoming partnership, I was immediately intrigued and struck with a wave of nostalgia. The brand is partnering with Netflix’s “Stranger Things” ahead of the show’s final season to release a first-of-its-kind flavor.
If you didn’t know, Eggo waffles have played a significant role in the “Stranger Things” franchise, solidifying a spot as the favorite food of character Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown. To commemorate the end of the show, Eggo is releasing limited-edition packs of “Stranger Things” Homestyle Waffles and its first-ever strawberry red waffle. Lucky for me, I got a chance to try the new strawberry-flavored waffles, and here’s my honest review.Â

My Honest Review of Eggo’s New ‘Stranger Things’ Strawberry Waffles
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box of frozen waffles was the bright and unexpected color: PINK. The hue was super vibrant. And while they have a unique color, I was very pleased to find that the waffles are dyed with natural ingredients, including fruit and vegetable juice as well as strawberry powder. The next thing that stuck out to me was the smell. As soon as I opened the package, I was met with a lovely, fruity scent.
I popped two waffles in my toaster oven and cooked them according to the instructions before serving them with a pat of butter and a generous drizzle of syrup. For as strong as the strawberry scent and hue were, the flavor was much more subtle, but still delicious. The texture was just as I remembered—crisp on the outside and tender on the inside.
Overall, the new waffles are a fun novelty that stays true to the original Eggo waffles. I definitely recommend trying them while they are available, if only to witness the fuchsia-stained breakfast for yourself, because they are a sight to behold.
The Eggo “Stranger Things” Strawberry Waffles will be available this October at select stores nationwide, and a 10-count box will retail for $3.59 (although prices may vary by location). The limited-edition homestyle waffles featuring “Stranger Things” packaging will also be available nationwide in October.
Make sure to grab a box for a nostalgic snack to enjoy during your “Stranger Things” watch party.
