Key Takeaways

- The limited-time menu offering features M&M’s, Heath, and Oreo items all in one treat.
- The returning order is available now on the Sonic App, and will arrive at participating locations nationwide on Sept. 29.
Fast food chains love a seasonal drop, and while I’m eternally partial to Chick-fil-A’s Peppermint Chip Milkshake during the holidays, I particularly appreciate restaurants that amp up the festivities for Halloween.
Pumpkin is, of course, a fall mainstay (Just look at McDonald’s or Krispy Kreme’s seasonal offerings.), but some chains like to add extra spooky vibes to the classics, such as Burger King’s new Halloween Buckets. And while decked-out decor is always a good idea, the best part of Halloween is, arguably, the candy. However, since I’m a few decades too old to trick-or-treat, I have to resort to my own candy bowl as far as spooky indulgences go.
Fortunately, Sonic just brought back a decadent dessert that screams Halloween nostalgia. And it’s eerily similar to a signature staple from Dairy Queen.
Sonic Trick or Treat Blasts Are Back for Halloween
Sonic / Allrecipes
Sonic is celebrating the Halloween season early this year with the return of fan-favorite Trick or Treat Blasts. Just like the infamous dessert from DQ, these frozen treats combine Sonic’s creamy vanilla or chocolate soft serve with beloved candy brands for a nostalgic and spooky Halloween ice cream dessert.
And, some fans claim that Sonic Blasts are even better than the iconic DQ Blizzard.
Each Trick or Treat Blast features three signature mix-ins from iconic brands, including Heath toffee bits, M&M’s Minis, and Oreo Cookie Pieces. It’s all blended with Sonic soft serve and finished with even more sweet toppings for a festive twist on a classic fast food dessert.
But why wait until Oct. 31 to start chowing down on Halloween candy? Both chocolate and vanilla Sonic Trick or Treat Blasts are available now in the Sonic App, and will hit participating stores nationwide beginning Monday, Sept. 29.
Given that my personal credo includes “it’s never too cold for ice cream” and “it’s never too early for spooky season,” you better believe I’m heading to Sonic ASAP for this Halloween treat.
