Key Takeaways

  • Dairy Queen has an all-new Blizzard that combines two fan-favorite flavors.
  • The treat will be available for a limited time as the October Blizzard of the Month.

I’ll be honest: I’m never one to consider food to have strict “seasons.” Sure, a hot dog is delicious at a summer barbecue, but it’s just as good at a stadium during winter football games. I love soup to warm me up on a cozy fall day, but I don’t stray away from a French onion soup when given the chance. And ice cream still tastes great whether it’s 104 degrees F or -4 degrees F.

Maybe it’s because I grew up with a walk-up ice cream window, Bruster’s, that was open for most of the year—and even gave you a free scoop when it rained or snowed. And, if Bruster’s wasn’t open, our local Dairy Queen always was. So, to me, just because we’re entering chilly fall weather doesn’t mean an ice cream treat has to stop.

And, after trying DQ’s new Blizzard of the Month, I promise, you won’t want to skip the Dairy Queen trip in October, either.

Beginning Sept. 29, Dairy Queen is releasing a new Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard.

Reese’s and Oreo have had quite the year, teaming up to create a Reese’s-flavored Oreo cookie and Oreo-filled Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Now, the iconic duo is collaborating with a third icon, the DQ Blizzard

The new Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard combines real Oreo cookies and crème pieces with chunks of chocolaty Reese’s peanut butter cup blended in DQ’s famous soft serve

While there’s no trickery about this delicious treat, DQ’s new Blizzard combines the best of Halloween sweets into a dessert you’ll want to skip the trick-or-treating for. Plus, DQ is releasing the Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard just in time to celebrate the two fictional girls who practically put the combo of peanut butter and Oreos on the map: Hallie and Annie’s, from “The Parent Trap,” Oct. 11 birthday.

DQ’s new Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard will be available at all participating U.S. locations, excluding Texas, as those stores featured the flavor as the September Blizzard of the Month, for a limited time. I tried the new Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard, and here is my honest review.

My Honest Review of Dairy Queen’s Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard

Prior to trying the new Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard, I’ve always loved the Mint Oreo Blizzard for the elevated take on cookies and crème ice cream. However, after trying the new Oreo and Reese’s-packed treat, it’s safe to say I’m ruined for every Blizzard for the rest of my life.

The combo is delicious and one bite had me saying, “How has DQ never offered this before?” The Blizzard is the best of all chocolate, peanut butter, and cookies and crème worlds. Each bite has hunks of Reese’s cups, chocolate Oreo wafers, and the occasional swirl of Reese’s peanut butter or Oreo crème in the soft serve itself.

Additionally, on my DQ visit, I learned that you can order a Blizzard with soft serve other than vanilla, including chocolate and vanilla-chocolate swirl. So, I also tried the Oreo x Reese’s Blizzard with chocolate soft serve and it took the decadence up another level. DQ informed me that not every location offers additional soft serve flavors, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

I’m going to be devastated when Dairy Queen takes this Blizzard off the menu, so maybe it doesn’t have to…right, DQ? Please?
