This $2 Fan-Favorite Oreo Snack Is Back—and I Finally Tried It

Popcorn is and always will be one of my favorite snacks. My love of the crunchy-yet-airy bite is so strong that one of my birthday gifts was a 400-ounce gigantic bag of movie theater popcorn…which I finished in a matter of days. 

Whether it’s the new S’mores popcorn sold at Costco or convenient microwave bags, there are plenty of versions of the salty-sweet treat on the market to suit your preferences. So, when I had the opportunity to try a fan-favorite returning seasonal popcorn from Snax-Sational Brands, I jumped at the chance to see how it measures up to my high standards.

For those who may not already know, the Cookie Pop Oreo Popcorn Halloween Edition was first released five years ago as a limited-edition product at Sam’s Club in 2020, and instantly became a beloved holiday snack to munch on. Each bag contains about 5.25 ounces of airy popcorn drizzled with a bright orange creme and crushed Oreos throughout. The sweet and savory snack costs about $2 a bag, but the price may vary depending on where you shop.

My Honest Review of Cookie Pop Oreo Popcorn Halloween Edition

I’ll fully admit, I had high expectations for this treat. Oreos are such a classic snack, so combining the chocolaty sandwich cookies with salty popcorn sounded like a no-brainer to me. Plus, with the added Halloween twist, I was excited to pop open the bag and dive in as soon as it arrived. 

Upon first taste, I was impressed to discover that the popcorn has a fluffy and crunchy texture, which was exactly what I look for in a pre-popped version of the snack. Too often, I’ve come across slightly stale bags of pre-popped popcorn, but fortunately, that was not the case with the Cookie Pop Oreo Popcorn Halloween Edition. 

The Oreo flavor was subtle, and the cookies were distributed evenly throughout the popcorn mix. I found that the orange frosting wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet and added a lovely hue that screams Halloween.

One minor downside: I wanted the popcorn to be a bit saltier to counterbalance the sugar from the Oreos and frosting. It’s advertised as a low-sodium snack—so there is minimal saltiness to begin with—but I felt it could use a touch more to cut through the sweetness.

Overall, the Halloween version of Cookie Pop Oreo Popcorn would make a delicious addition to your seasonal treats and snacks, especially if you have a sweet tooth or simply can’t decide between sweet and salty. The popcorn is available at select retailers, including Five Below, Sam’s Club, Walmart, 7-Eleven, and more.
