Evaporated milk is a powerhouse ingredient when it comes to adding rich, creamy flavor. Unfortunately, it’s often left in the dust for its dessert-friendly counterpart, sweetened condensed milk. Both have a thick consistency due to the majority of water being removed and contribute a concentrated milky flavor to recipes.
The difference, however, is that evaporated milk lacks added sugar, which creates the deep caramel-like flavor in sweetened condensed milk. While you can add sugar to create desserts with evaporated milk, the pantry staple shines in savory recipes, including Alfredo sauce, queso, and potato soup.
According to Nestlé, the number one dish in which customers use Carnation evaporated milk is the gooey and timeless meal we all love–mac and cheese. So, just in time for potluck season, the brand is bringing back a fan-loved flavor—and taking it to retail shelves for the first time.
Carnation Is Bringing Kickin’ Jalapeño Flavored Evaporated Milk Nationwide

In 2024, Carnation spiced things up by releasing its first flavored product: Kickin’ Jalapeño Flavored Evaporated Milk. The new product combined the classic creamy taste of evaporated milk with a kick of spicy jalapeño flavor, and was part of a collaboration with Tineke Younger, also known as Tini.
The popular creator appeared on Next Level Chef with Gordon Ramsey and gained a massive social media following over the past couple of years by sharing her recipes and cooking hacks on TikTok. One of her most notable videos, with over 100 million views, features her recipe for baked mac and cheese.
So, timed with National Mac and Cheese Day last year, Carnation made it easier than ever to recreate the viral recipe at home. The brand released “Mac It Better” kits, which included the popular recipe and the shelf-stable essentials you’d need to make it, like a can of Original Carnation Evaporated Milk, a can of the new Carnation Kickin’ Jalapeño Flavored Evaporated Milk, and a $25 gift card for additional ingredients.
However, the catch was that the kits were only available on a first-come, first-served basis on Carnation’s site—and they sold out quickly. Since then, fans have asked Carnation to bring the spicy evaporated milk to shelves.
Now, it finally is.
Carnation’s Kickin’ Jalapeño Flavored Evaporated Milk is officially hitting 3,600 Walmart stores nationwide now as a store exclusive.
The Kickin’ Jalapeño Flavored Evaporated Milk retails for about $1.72 at Walmart. It makes for a zesty upgrade for not only spicy mac and cheese, but for burgers, quiche, casseroles, and more. So stock up for fall comfort food cooking.
