Key Takeaways

  • Jimmy John’s is adding two new Toasted Sandwiches to its menu.
  • The Italian-inspired subs are the first limited-time offerings since the chain started toasting its sandwiches.

Is it just me, or does it seem like when the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter, ordering takeout becomes more frequent? Typically, the hankering comes on a Sunday evening during the second round of NFL football games, when you don’t want to miss a play to cook and ordering from your favorite restaurant just sounds easier.

Sometimes, you might opt for pizza and wings, other times you pick burgers and fries, and some nights you may want a simple sub sandwich. And, with Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast delivery, you could have that sub sandwich at your door before the next football quarter even starts.

The Jimmy John’s menu is quite robust, and now with its new Toasted Sandwiches, which it launched in February, it can compete with the best of the best sub joints. As we enter fall—and football season—Jimmy John’s is combining two favorites into one, so you’ll never have to choose between a pizza and a sub again.

Jimmy John’s is adding two new sandwiches to its menu that feature some of your favorite pizza toppings on the chain’s beloved, toasted French bread. The two new sandwiches include The Toasted Sicilian Pizza Sandwich and The Toasted Three Cheese Pizza Sandwich.

The Toasted Sicilian Pizza Sandwich is a meaty classic, made with salami, capocollo, ham, mozzarella, marinara, and oregano-basil seasoning. The Toasted Three Cheese Pizza Sandwich features three melty cheeses, mozzarella, provolone, and Parmesan, with marinara sauce and oregano-basil seasoning. The cheesy, gooey sandwich is also Jimmy John’s first vegetarian sandwich offering in its new Toasted Sandwich lineup.

Both of Jimmy John’s new pizza-inspired Toasted Sandwiches will join menus on Sept. 8. However, unlike the permanent Chicken Bacon Ranch, Ultimate Italian, and Roast Beef & Cheddar, the new pizza subs will only be available for a limited time—marking the first limited-time offerings of the Toasted Sandwich era.

I tried Jimmy John’s new pizza subs, and here is my honest review.

My Honest Review of Jimmy John’s Pizza Toasted Sandwiches

When I go to a sub chain, I tend to choose a deli meat-packed sub—in Jimmy John’s case, it’s either the Club Lulu made with turkey and bacon or a new favorite, the Toasted Roast Beef & Cheddar. However, I have to say, the Toasted Three Cheese Pizza Sandwich was my sleeper favorite of the two new subs.

You can’t go wrong with gooey mozzarella, provolone, and Parmesan cheese with marinara sauce on bread. And Jimmy John’s marinara sauce is delectable. It’s the perfect balance of sweet tomatoes with savory spices.

I did also enjoy the Toasted Sicilian Pizza Sandwich; however, I’m more of a fan of pepperoni and some veggie toppings on my pizza, rather than a bunch of meat. So, the salami, capocollo, and ham were just a bit too much for me.

The new pizza subs are fairly messy, but worth every bite of saucy, cheesy goodness.
