When you think about Taco Bell, you likely consider it to be inherently American. The Mexican-inspired chain was created in San Bernardino, California, after all—and it’s no surprise that the Crunchwrap Supreme and Nacho Fries aren’t authentic Mexican cuisine. However, while it may have started in the U.S., Taco Bell has grown immensely and can now be found in 26 countries around the world.Â
And if international fast food restaurants have taught us anything, it’s that we don’t always have the best menus in the States. Don’t believe us? Ask the Chicken Selects and OG Snack Wrap at McDonald’s U.K.
So, yes, even America’s beloved Taco Bell has unique menu items at its restaurants abroad—and they look delicious. So, in hopes that Taco Bell will bring international faves to the U.S., like its sister chain KFC, here are the items we want to try the most.
The International Taco Bell Items We Want in the U.S.
Chicken Nachos
Allrecipes / Taco Bell
Sure, we have Nacho Fries and the classic Nachos BellGrande, but we’d happily take Spain’s Chicken Nachos. Taco Bell has been trying to perfect its crispy chicken offering in the U.S.—already testing nuggets and chicken tenders—but have these Chicken Nachos been the perfect option all along? The crispy chicken bites are served with BBQ sauce and cheese sauce—but, for some reason, it’s the nacho shape that really has our mouths watering.
Kit Kat Chocodilla
Allrecipes / Taco Bell
Can we all agree that Taco Bell U.S. could step up its dessert game? The fast food chain brought a version of its internationally loved churros to menus for a limited time this year, but the other dessert you can find on most international Taco Bell menus is the Chocodilla. The chocolate-filled quesadilla has many iterations at restaurants across the globe, but the one we’re really taken by is Spain’s Kit Kat Chocodilla.Â
The Kit Kat Chocodilla is filled with melted milk chocolate and real, crunchy Kit Kat pieces—and it sounds like a sweet treat that would pair perfectly with our Cantina Chicken Taco.
Greek Burrito
Allrecipes / Taco Bell
If Taco Bell won’t bring us this Greek Burrito, I’m tempted to fly to Cyprus right now to try it. The burrito is filled with your choice of grilled chicken or pork, fries, tzatziki sauce, and fiesta salsa. Now, as someone who knows the joys of adding french fries to sandwiches and salads (thank you, Pittsburgh), this is my kind of burrito.
Banurrito
Allrecipes / Taco Bell
If the Chocodilla isn’t your thing, then how about the Banurrito? The Banurrito (or banana-burrito) is a dessert in Cyprus that features a fresh banana and Nutella wrapped in a toasted tortilla and topped with chocolate sauce and rainbow sprinkles.
Cheesy Lava Taco
Allrecipes / Taco Bell
Before you try to say we’ve had Lava Sauce and a “Volcano Taco” before, it’s nothing like India’s Cheesy Lava Taco. This glorious taco starts with a Crispy Chalupa Taco shell filled with spicy Lava Sauce, then fitted with a Corn Shell Taco that’s filled with sour cream, Pepper BBQ Sauce, a “Cheesy Loaded Patty,” lettuce, and pico. It’s saucy, crispy, and extra cheesy—everything we Americans love, hello!
Loaded Fries Pocket
Allrecipes / Taco Bell
One thing I’m learning is that Taco Bell U.S. is not utilizing its fan-favorite fries to their fullest potential. Canada’s Loaded Fries Pocket is another clear representation of that. Just north of the border, Taco Bell is stuffing a flour tortilla with beef, nacho cheese, sour cream, chipotle sauce, and fries. So, road trip to Canada, anyone?
Fries Bll Grande
Allrecipes / Taco Bell
I know, I know, we don’t all go to Taco Bell for the fries, but they do have a big following. And, at the speed at which Taco Bell takes them off and then puts them back on the menu, you’d think at least one time it would offer its famous Nachos BellGrande in fry form. Because in the U.K., Taco Bell does.
The Fries Bell Grande are topped with nacho cheese sauce, seasoned beef, diced tomatoes, and sour cream. Now, I’ll give Taco Bell credit for adding some loaded fry options to its U.S. menu, but the Bell Grande upgrade should definitely be a staple.
