No one wants summer to end, but you can’t deny that fall is one of the best times of the year. The spooky decor, pumpkin-flavored desserts, and colorful leaves come together to make autumn the coziest of seasons. Here at Allrecipes, we’re especially excited to enjoy some fall-inspired desserts—and, turns out, so are a lot of Trader Joe’s shoppers.

Luckily for them, Trader Joe’s is also ready for autumn. Customers recently spotted one of the season’s most popular treats back on store shelves: apple cider doughnuts.

Trader Joe’s Apple Cider Doughnuts Are Back

The $4.99 box includes six apple cider doughnuts that are made by a family-owned bakery based in western Massachusetts, according to the store’s website. The cake-like treat carries a fluffy yet moist texture with a tangy flavor kick thanks to real apple cider. As it comes out of the fryer, each doughnut is hand-rolled in cinnamon and sugar, just like the kind you’d get at an apple orchard.

Though it’s not even September yet, customers are thrilled about the returning dessert. On a recent Reddit thread announcing their return, many commenters expressed their delight at the news. “My fav seasonal TJ’s treat,” said one Redditor. “Best donuts ever,” added another.

On another thread from last fall, one Reddit user commented, “My husband waits alllllll year long for these to come out and then makes me buy 2 boxes. So according to him, they’re the best item TJ’s has.”

Over on Instagram, fans couldn’t contain their excitement. “It’s tiiiiiiime!!!,” one commenter wrote, with another noting they are “dangerously good warmed up a bit.” On another Instagram post, @traderjoesnew advised followers to pair the doughnuts with a scoop of Trader Joe’s French vanilla ice cream. “Make this delicious dessert by putting these in the air fryer [for] just a few minutes and adding vanilla ice cream or horchata,” they suggest.

The only complaint about these doughnuts seems to be about the packaging. “Apple Cider Donuts are great but their packaging is a fail. I have no choice but to eat them all now,” reads one Reddit post. If you find yourself with leftover doughnuts by some odd chance, you can always turn them into the most decadent, fall-flavored bread pudding.

This is proof that fall can never come too early, especially when apple cider doughnuts are involved.
